What is /v/'s opinion of Redout? It comes out on Tuesday for consoles and I haven't been able to try it with my shit pc.

Does driving feel closer to F-zero GX, Wipeout 2048, or something else?
>>
>>388329768
It's good. FAST is better.
>>
>Does driving feel closer to F-zero GX, Wipeout 2048, or something else?
It's better than both of them, Redout is actually fast. It's all about going fast. You don't focus on shooting your opponents, this isn't freaking Mario Kart, this is about going faster than them.

Seriously, Redout is fucking great and has one of the best soundtracks in gaming.
>>
>>388329768
I don't know what this is but its name is dangerously close to Reddit. Sounds like shit.
>>
>>388329768
Controls are incredibly slippery and imprecise compared to Wipeout or F-Zero. Looks pretty and feels fast though, if that's all you care about.

No one's online anymore...
>>
>>388329768
Episode 1 Racer with the aesthetics of Wipeout. I like it a lot.
>>
>>38833033
I think Im pretty sold then.

How does the steering feel? I hear a lot about feeling slippery. Im assuming you feel this out with skill? Is cornering done with Air-brakes on the shoulder buttons, or do actually rotate into turns that fast?
>>
>>388329768
as
>>388330647
the controls aren't as tight as F Zero but that's probably because they wanted to emphasize the hover aspect of the vehicles to make them feel different than, say, a car.

It's basically F-zero with wipeout's aesthetics.
>>
>>388330936
Im literally expecting nothing with online racing games. As long as the AI isnt a bullshit challenge of rubber banding then im super okay with the game.
>>
>>388329768
It's kind of its own thing. Nothing wrong with that. Keep in mind the console version will only have up to the Neptune DLC right away.
>>
>>388331208
No airbrakes, instead you strafe left or right and combine that with conventional turning. AI doesn't seem to rubberband from what I've played, it just follows the track decently well. You only lose races if you fuck up. At least, that's been my experience.
>>
>>388330647
It's actually less slippery.
>>
>>388331291
Okay cool. I used to be an F-zero fiend, but the Wipeout Collection didnt hold me over because half of the challenges in those games suck, so I didnt want to get gold or platnium on everything.

I was hoping this could scratch the itch.
>>
>>388331208
instead of a left/right airbrake you have strafing that lets you turn in different ways depending on whether the strafe direction is the same or opposite of the steering. there's a neutral brake that lets you turn more quickly.
>>
Too bad there's no comfy long A to B stretches you can zone out to for half an hour or so.
>>
The game has definitely improved since it's first release. Engine improvements and lighting and team balancing too. The devs are definitely making decent progress on the PC side of things and I believe it has local multilayer if you have physical friends to share that freedom with.
>>
>>388331810
>the Wipeout Collection didnt hold me over because half of the challenges in those games suck, so I didnt want to get gold or platnium on everything.

What, how did you have trouble with them? Unless you refuse to learnthe controls and tricks to the game, you should have little problem with getting gold at least.

It was good until I realized that they devs maiin focus on this game is DLC. So basically don't expect any free content like ever. I blew 35 bucks on this on this on release and waited forever for actual content updates and all we got was shit.

Redout discord fags that circlejerk around the devs will come here and defend the game.

find a better alternative.
>>
>>388331950
It's nice to see a dev team actually listen to feedback. You can thank me for suggesting the inclusion of the random color/livery button.
>>
>>388329768
Comes out on Tuesday for consoles, except the Switch, which is out about a couple of months later. Get the info right.

>checks youtube
Oh that actually seems really cool. You can just have strafe controls on right stick.

https://youtu.be/oRtZe7ViHdA
>>
>>388331992
No I didnt have trouble, I just didnt care about getting gold in typical race because they were a crap shoot with a lot of the time with weapon pickups, and the Zone progression mode is the longest boringest racing mode ever.
>>
>>388332196
As soon as a track creator is released and maybe a livery creator which might be a stretch with that much creative freedom. The game would be a serious piece of work.
>>
>>388332374
Why would I go out of my way to mention a shit console
>>
>>388329768
Physics aren't nearly as good as they are in WipeOut, which is kind of the whole point of ag racing. It's okay though.
>>
>>388332157
The Enhanced Edition patch had new content.

Did they say they would be patching in new free stuff after launch? Why would you just expect that?
>>
>>388331704
No, it's way more slippery. It basically has no grasp on physics whatsoever.

>>388333386
because they're an independent company that nobody knows or should care about unless they make a great game and not a bare bones game with barely any content.

Especially with that price tag.
>>
The Neptune expansion is by far the best one.. All tracks are in space and is accompanied by what would sound like a track from a superhero movie. It captures it all perfectly.
>>
>>388334254
So maybe a better criticism would be the lack of existing content?
Why would you jump to the conclusion that they're just trying to profit off DLC that hasn't even been released yet, a year after launch?
I'm not defending the game, a friend gifted it to me and I wouldn't have paid 35 bucks for it on my own. I'm just trying to figure you out.
>>
>>388334816
Disregard this, I remembered there's actual DLC.
>>
>>388334254
well who's fault is it for not waiting for a sale? It was 60% in the summer sale.

wipeout ripoff""""""
>>
>>388333146
as cool as the livery creator would be it would make the random drops and dlc skins pointless. plus the console versions are getting exclusive liveries. a track editor would be awesome but i'm not sure how likely that will be.
>>
I hope they fix the menus for VR. Other than that, it's a really fun game. I actually prefer Wipeout, though; the vehicles feel more weighty in that game.
>>
>>388334254
a 15 hour career mode for $35 is hardly bare bones

Why don't we take it a stuff further and make it free? Prick.
>>
>>388336997
the game would have been a massive loss for the developers if they charged that much for it
>>
>>388336403
A game like distance, which is something slightly similar to redout has a fairly in depth track creator. I feel like having some sort of workshop support would boost the sales of the game and its online population if it's implemented correctly plus make it a better game in terms of re playability to justify its quite high price point on the PC.

so is wipeout omega collection and fast rmx. what did you expect from a super niche genre

redout. fast racing's tracks are very samey with hardly and turns.
>>
>>388336727
That's because WipeOut is actually very complex with how it handles gravity and physics. Redout doesn't really know what it's doing in that regard.

this is true and that's precisely why there is no tutorial mode lol.
