I posted on one from like 2003 to 2010 and dropped it after realizing how bad it had gotten. Posting quality was awful because people only care about bumping their numbers up, ratings ruined discussion because people just posted the most pandering shit to maximize positive ratings, mods circlejerked with old users in private chats and gave them special treatment. It was just a bunch of design choices that individually don't seem bad but combined over time turned into a clusterfuck of vanity and ego stroking attention whores with zero regard for quality.

I'm more obsessed with 90's nostalgia. God being a 90's kid was so amazing. Growing up with SNES/N64/PS1/Gameboy/GBC/GBA, playing with Super Soakers and amazing Nerf guns with friends, watching Nickelodeon on TV back when it was amazing, eating stuff like 3D Dorito's & Pepsi Blue...

I honestly consider the 1980's to early 2000's to be the pinnacle of a time for kids to grow up in with the amount of education and recreation available to an average kid. Though the 1950's/60's were a lot SAFER to grow up in, kids back then didn't have nearly the amount of amazing toys that the 80's - 00's brought.

It's not really sensory overload... I can play most arcade games and action RPGs and STG and others just fine. It's just that, specifically in FPSs, I am always trying to explore everything out of sheer habit, and modern level design (combined with clunky controls and godawful FoV) really make it tough.
What I am trying to say is the older days of being able to instantly "get" a map's geometry from even a single screenshot were better.
