Killing Floor 2. More classes, less weapon diversity per class, half the official maps, and 1/6 the fun achievements. The are cosmetic items and expensive keys, though. That surely makes paying 3 times what I paid for "Killing Floor One" worth it.

I'm playing Etrian Odyssey 3 on an emulator and made it to the second stratum. However I'm getting bored of how slow the skill progression is and having to grind money with farmer runs. Gonna try out grimrock 2 instead to see if it's more fun.

I just played my first game of PUBG in over a month. I got up and took a shit because I dropped in around the middle of the first circle, came back and ran to the middle of the third circle, went out and had a smoke, came back, ran for 40 seconds and got run over by a guy in a buggy.

Also for some reason despite not having any controller drivers installed on this PC, it wouldn't let me edit the graphics options in game because it would just open the original menu then immediately change to what I assume in the upcoming console menu where it just says something like "(A) Leave the game | (B) Return to game."

I don't even really hate the BR genre, but just the autistic fucking community that acts like they're all 13 is enough to make me hate it even before the basic game play elements.

I've been too depressed for a year now to really get into any games.
I might try playing RE4 on PS4 for the 5th playthrough...
Or I could play Horizon, Persona 5, DQ Builders, Yakuza 0 or Nioh. Bought all these games are have barely touched them

A bit of Red Orchestra 2 single player. I already don't think I'll enjoy the multiplayer. Gameplay feels like a first person combat simulator based on clogging blenders with your body parts to achieve objectives.

PUBG looks like a fun game to play with a group of friends, but incredibly frustrating to play solo from the videos I've watched. You run to a safe zone, gather stuff, run to another spot for better stuff, and then run until someone you can't see guns you down. Most of your deaths are from people sniping you that were lucky enough land near the safe zone.

Ogame was a great browser game in the early 2000s. Went to shit over time as pay to win options were introduced, people moved onto similar facebook games, and they just never managed to address player loss for older servers/universes.

FFXIV, thinking about what to do, friends are offline and I'm on a dead FC so there isn't anyone that needs help with stuff or something.

Got a hankering for some tacticool singleplayer shootan lately. Playing SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 (kinda sucks), Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Terrorist Hunt is fun but gets old because of the predictable enemy spawning and AI) and Ghost Recon 1. With GR, I found a mod that randomizes enemy placement in the game's Firefight mode so it's pretty great.

Make sure to check out Grimoire eventually. It has a lot of balance issues at the moment but the level design is extremely good, way more engrossing than Grimrock 2.

I bought a cheap chinese knock off of the Ever Drive 64. Been playing a lot of random N64 games with it. Had a lot of fun with Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo until it started crashing over and over on the first space level. I think my N64 might have a problem. It doesn't crash for 99% of games, but I can't play Star Wars: Episode I or Pokemon Stadium on it for longer than 30 minutes without it crashing.

Half Life 2 is fun, but I never liked the Alyx parts or the pacing problems from all the puzzles they keep stopping gameplay for. I think Half Life 2's greatest contribution to gaming has been the Source engine. Half Life 1 remains my favorite Half Life game.

That's because when you play with a group of friends, while you're trying to win, you're also just shitting around with them.

Every single time I've played with a group of people, we've all died with only like 16 people left. A band of shitters with half a brain can do that. You're right about solo play though, but that's all I see people arguing about on here. It's just one guy who complains against the game saying what you've said, and then some other guy who just says "You've gotta play more tacticool." In the end though, the tacticool shitposters are the ones wasting their time thinking they're better than campers for playing a mobile camper.

I'm too drunk to argue it, but in the end it just comes down to your own personal viewpoint of play styles of the game. You can play solo milsim-esque, but in the end it's really no different compared to campers. When you're camping in one spot, you tab out in the down time, when you're playing tacticool, there's no tab out downtime in exchange for just walking long stretches through the more convoluted "hidden" paths. If that's what you enjoy, that's what you enjoy.

Word to you personally though; if you don't think you'll enjoy playing solo and don't have a group to play with, don't bother buying it.

I played Tower of Guns for while after receiving a free copy of the game from a website. It immediately became very repetitive and tiresome after a few hours. The "challenge" is avoiding comically slow/oversized bullets from turrets and shooting them if you feel like it. There's a few bosses that are bigger turrets that sorta move, but nothing very engaging. I don't think I care enough to unlock more in the game.

Yeah, I get that there's an audience that enjoys games like that and I can appreciate the shrinking map innovation PUBG employs. It sorta discourages camping and definitely ramps up tension. I don't enjoy battle royale games in general, though. The action is short and the build up to death is nerve-wracking. Really, almost any game can be fun with a group of friends.

The long dark has been hella fun, game needs more content tho, but I really like it

desu my biggest peeve about it is how tense the endings are but only because you're so worried you're going to get shot in the back. It's part of the game, but I guess the whole BR genre isn't ultimately skill based so that even 9 year old shitters honestly have a chance of winning.

The big problem with Pubg really is the unexplainable deaths. A kill cam would make the game a lot less frustrating.

Dying is common in multiplayer games, but it can be infuriating if you don't know how you died. An anonymous kill cam would really help relieve that frustration. You'd know to avoid using cover in a that exposed you, how other players noticed your movement in building, and remove that feeling of an unwarranted death in general.

Just running along and "blam-O! game over" is really annoying and often leads players to assume cheating when nothing of the sort is happening.

It just feels like a crapshoot most of the time in solo play. Be lucky enough to land near the center of the circle, near guns, and then camp for most of the game.

Sure, there's strategy involved, but it can only overcome so much. I'd say a lucky player with moderate experience in the game could beat a veteran with bad luck any day.

The time investment in figuring out which you are each game isn't worth it.

Easily. With muzzle flash being the only indicator beyond seeing the tiny smudge of a person, in situations where you NEED to move, it all just comes down to "is some random willing to wait outside the zone longer than I am?"

It doesn't matter what some shitter who gets off on being 30th in a lobby of 100 thinks, in the end there's just too many situations that outright come down to luck through waiting for anyone with a "the winner should be skilled" idea to appreciate the game. In the end, the shitposters are getting worked up over PUBG beating CSGO and Dota2, but in the end the CSGO and Dota2 players are the same people who play PUBG and are the ones shilling their bullshit of "it's not a luck based game."

Again, it's hard to explain without seeming like I'm shitposting from the opposite side, but it really just comes down to luck. It doesn't matter where you camp, it doesn't matter how tacticool you're trying to be, there's always a way someone else can fuck you up without you knowing how, and all the games poor coding issues only make that 100x worse.
