Can this be virtually Bloodborne 2?
>>
this will be a janky piece of garbage, did you even see who the devs are?
>>
>>388313114
No, it will be call of cthulhu

>tired public domain IP
>eurojank developers
>original source material too racist for current market so it will be watered down and some added visceral violence to get the little edgy shits
>not even remotely the authors best work

What could possibly go wrong
>>
>>388313687
What do you think is his best work? Genuinely curious.
>>
>>388313114
>adapt The Shadow Over Innsmouth
>call it Call of Cthulhu for normie name recognition, despite that being the name of a completely different story.
Give it to me straight guys, are they pulling this shit again?
>>
>>388313781
People who get into Lovecraft usually gravitate At the mountains of madness or The statement of Randolph Carter

For me personally it's The color out of space

Cant remember Lovecrafts own favorite, it was one of the less popular ones. of course it was

>For me personally it's The color out of space
My nigga. Only one of his stories that gave me legit chills. I enjoyed the "detective" feeling of Call of Cthulhu but Color had the best atmosphere.
>>
>>388314014
Probably both. It's about a guy investigating some people trying to revive Cthulhu, but it's also based on the tabletop RPG called Call of Cthulhu(thus "The Offical Video Game" part) which uses the name to mean everything Lovecraft. So Cthulhu will probably be the big bad but it will have a pick and mix of various Lovecraft stuff.
>>
I thought this game was cancelled or another announced but won't ever release game.
>>
>>388313114
>Bloodborne 2
Why? How? Bloodborne is an action RPG game, this will probably some survival horror game.

It's cool meeting a fellow patrician on /v/, especially in this age of paupers. Color has that Junji Ito vibe, combined with near perfect pacing and buildup

>>388313781
If you want to get in on this, The HP Lovecraft literary podcast goes through synopsis and readings of all of lovecrafts known works, even the less politically correct ones.

Or you could check out readings on youtube, it's all public domain and short stories, 1 to 3 hours long. If you can get the good stories and some of the good readers you're golden

is this fine woman depicted farting bubbles out her ass, or is it the adorable little cherub who blows on them?
>>
>>388313114
>the official video game
What does that even mean? Did Lovecraft come back from the dead to give his blessing?
>>
>>388314041
the thing on the doorstep is underrated. i like the dunwich horror too
>>
Anyone else here read Providence? Fucking stellar.
>>
>>388315156
I think they are referring to the Board game "Call of Cthulhu" the actual story is called "The Call of Cthulhu."
>>
>>388313781
Immersing yourself in Pickman's Model and The thing at the doorstep is the best I've ever heard
>>
>>388313114
>same developer as that last wh40k game
>published by Focus Home Interactive
>Amnesia wannabe
no
it's just shovelware trash, just like everything Focus Home does.
>>
>>388315479
>Board game

Tabletop RPG, not board game.

My autism compels me to correct you.
>>
>>388315707
I might have been thinking of Arkham horror when I said "board game."
>>
The Rats in the Walls is #underrated.
>>
>>388313687
Too bad he's an awful writer, with even most of his themes delivered as hamfistedly as possible.
>>
>>388313114
It sort of doesn't work if you know there's elder gods right from the beginning.

You want to roll in that fat lovecraft horror? Get tabletop simulator off steam, and get Arkham Horror for free off the Workshop, or get Eldritch Horror if you like better games more than bragging rights. The rules are available for free from the creators

If you have friends you get them in on it, if not you can play alone, if you have the discipline to not cheat on yourself

board games have advanced way past videogames the last 5 years
>>
>>388316374
You can play Arkham Horror by yourself?
>>
>>388316374
Shame board games still can't top pen and paper
>>
>>388316476
Coop board games can be played in full basement dweller mode.
>>
>>388316296
I can agree as far as flawed, unrefined or never fully realized his potential, but I disagree that he was flat out awful
>>
>>388315392
of course, it's Alan Moore
>>
>>388313267
sounds like bloodborne
>>
>>388316770
Well the prequel is garbage so it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to not check it out. They would be missing out on the best Lovecraft adaptation in years unfortunately.
>>
>>388316476
Arkham Horror and Eldritch Horror are coop games were the players play vs. the board. It's very intuitive to control 2-3 the investigators yourself, instead of just one, and play against the board
>>
>>388314041
Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath is my personal favourite. It's a real shame that Lovecraft didn't write more fantasy stories in his time.
>>
>>388313267
Styx was pretty good IIRC

What's /v/'s favorite Lovecraft story?
Mine is The Thing on the Doorstep.
>>
>>388313114
There's already a good 'Call of Cthulhu' you fucking plebs.

Best fucking one.

Yeah his writing is all-round solid but that's the only one that felt truly alien. Love it.
>>
>>388317475
Mine is either The Horror in The Museum or Under The Pyramids

>>388317696
like clockwork
>>
>>388317610
Had me shitting bricks.
>>
>>388314041
I think Color Out of Space was his favorite, actually. Lovecraft was very critical of his own work, but that was one he always spoke fondly of. Anyway to toss in one of his more underrated stories, The Music of Erich Zann is incredible for being one of his earlier works.
>>
>>388313781
I started at The thing on the doorstep even though its considered a weaker story. My favourites are The whsiperer in darkness and the haunter of the dark
>>
>>388317813
the exact moment the game went to shit
>>
>>388313114
>CoC already exists as a game
>Hurr durr is this a sequel to some shit that game out decades later xD
>>
>>388319982
....It's not.
It has nothing to do with that CoC game.

The Whisperer in Darkness and The Hound were pretty fantastic, though most of his later work is too
>>
>>388314041
thank you, anon. Now I want to smell the farts of a woman.
>>
>>388313781
The Colour out of Space, The Shadow out of Time, and The Rats in the Walls.
>>
>>388314041
This is a Lovecraft thread, not a Joyce thread.
>>
>>388321675
>tfw there'll never be a video game allowing you to fuck the farts out of someone

Well actually there probably is some H-game for that.
>>
>>388313781
Shadow over innsmouth, of course, it's the only one where he actually figured out how to properly write like a novelist. I love Lovecraft but holy shit it's like he's never read a good novel in his life, most of his stories have no sense of pacing and just drag on and on.
