How would a Yakuza-style FOTNS even work?

It's been a while since I read the manga, bot from what I remember it was pretty much just Ken and some other dudes fighting in a barren wasteland, there's not much room for Yakuza-style world interactions or anything like that.

It actually legitimately genuinely should have been a Souten no Ken game instead. I know SnK isn't as popular so financially this is a smarter decision, but Souten is literally a Yakuza story already and would make way more sense.

I'm still really happy about this as it's going to be a good game for sure and I love HnK and will buy basically anything with Kenshiro slapped on it, but man this feels like a missed opportunity.

I'm semi-hyped but I have a couple of misgivings

I'm worried the gameplay won't be that good, it looks like a generic crowd clearer in that one short segment where they show actual gameplay and the kicks and punches don't feel weighty but I'll wait for TGS to form an actual opinion.

Also Kiryu's voice actor is okay for when Kenshiro is just talking (Omae wa mou shindeiru is pretty spot on) but his ATATATAs and WACHAs are quite off. I'm not sure he's so much doing a bad job as his voice just being unsuitable for that stuff.

People say the anime has 'filler' but disregard what kind of actual filler it is. Much of it is stuff that expands on either the characters or the post-apocalyptic world. Shin for example got a ton of exposition and we got to see his own struggles wrangling his unruly generals and the depths of his obsession with Yuria that the manga never even gets close to, instead Shin's like a speed bump Kenshiro flattens in a few pages. There's also when Rei is dying but wants to journey to a place called Blue Town. In the manga he and Ken leave, and right on the next page we see them returning in a car and Rei is near death, and we get nothing in between. In the anime we see them go to Blue Town, what happens there and lots of great fighting with Ken and Rei killing bad guys. There was also the episodes where Kenshiro fights slavers, and we see his only ever female kill on the evil bitch Madame Patra who he drove her own pearl necklace into her eyes and then tricked her lover into setting on fire and then falls off a balcony.
Also, even if the art quality is worse the actual cinematic style was wonderful.

It has redeeming qualities to it.
A MUCH better story mode so if you're a Hokuto fan you should enjoy it for that alone.
It runs at mostly stable 60 FPS unlike the first game which runs at sub 30 most of the time.
Controls are much more responsive, as is camera.

Gameplay however is simplified, quite drastically so and so is the level design and visuals. Character models and textures are pretty much untouched, but levels look barely above PS2 tier visually and level design wise. First game had much more impressive levels with far greater scale to them.

If it's an entirely original story in a setting never before seen in FOTNS why did they show all stuff from the main story?

Fuck man, the anime got those color schemes so much better... It should be cel-shaded as well, I just can't see a Hokuto game translate all that well using "realistic" shading.
