Archery physics felt like shit. Thief is obsolete since lvl 10 skeleton key. Being a mage felt so castrated compared to Morrowind.

How does anyone even enjoy Oblivion?
I've tried the game a few times, I think I've installed the game 4 times now. Every time I just fuck around, end up fighting demons and then I give up because of how tedious it is to go into those Oblivion portals and fighting boring demons in samey locations.

Leveling 5/5/1 is the worst fucking thing ever. You turn the game into a spreadsheet simulator and if you rank up a skill in the middle of a dungeon you have a to quit and go train block vs rats for 30 minutes or run into a wall for 4 hours or you'll miss an endurance point and only get 4/5/1. Even if you perfectly 5/5/1 up until level 40~ enemies will still be half-immortal.

I am not that into mods, but when I've used mods it usually just has you copy the files and put them in the game folder.

That one needs oblivion script extender (OBSE). Do you have it installed?

Anyway, those files are exactly the same as your usual skyrim mod. There's ESPs and ESMs you have to activate via the oblivion launcher, and the BSA that contains all the textures, meshes sounds etc that you all need to dump into the Data folder. Even the original Oblivion resources are packed that way so you'll find plenty of other BSAs within.

It can't break the game because no original game files are overwritten. The original OOO doesn't need OBSE, but you downloaded an updated version done by someone other than Oscuro himself. Rather than downloading something else, installing OBSE is much faster and easier. Plus OBSE is required for many other mods that you might want to install at some point anyway.
