The entire point of the game is to RPG lvl up your own fightign game character, build your deck, then pvp.
Single player is about 3 hours long and the AI for the npcs is that of a 3 year old.
There is no story aside from, you are a shitter and your goal is to fight a bunch of people till you aren't a shitter.
But if you just want single player you can just pirate it.

Up to 3 people can be in a single instance.
Instances are entirely random, you can choose to turn them off.
Once someone joins your instance you can go up to them and ask them to join you in coop adventures or start beating their ass. After either you or they die, you can choose to revive them if you don't or they force respawn they will leave that instance.

You pretty much always have a chance of someone entering or leaving but its pretty random similar to Journey.
So it could be 2 people on a team and a 3rd person joins and you guys can gank him or invite him to the team as well after which no one else will show up.

So you have random pvp, but also there is a arena that is match making for 1v1s, eventually 3v3s will be added too. You can add your friends or specific people you played with recently at "campfires".

i feel while theres definitely the opportunity for mind games and strategy, the actual combat is kind of boring. it feels like all that matters is staying in rhythm to chain and I'm not really doing much in a fight other than trying to predict when my opponent is going to do something. The sequence thing is my biggest issue since it locks you into 1 of four choices and you cant really switch between them mid-sequence, and unless you build it in a certain way will be hard to switch out of because switching stances is clunky as fuck. Is the ultimate goal of combat just figuring out which of your 4 sequences beats your opponents 4? Cause thats gonna get old real quick. Your """style""" really just seems more like which moves you put in your deck rather than anything you could express through game mechanics like in a fighter. just my thoughts what do you think, i have the game preorderd btw

I mean there is the logical it's not that bad cause you will almost never run into them cause most players you meet are around your level and all that plus there is a hidden mmr system.

Not really, I feel like just the deck allows you pretty large self expression but if we ignore that there is still the shards and now defensive or offensive you are with the abilities provided. Do you like to feint to keep up the offensive and how often? At what point do you try to cut into the opponents combo or parry? Do you have backup deck on your sword/gloves or do you use the shards for spells, and then, which ones? It's far from a matter of winning just because your deck > their deck, although a deck that has a large set of accessible tools obviously takes you far.

Loot doesn't matter, it just gives minimal stat bonuses.
The game can easily be beaten at just level 1 since at the end of the day it's most just a fighting game, learn to dodge/parry/whatever your character does, find good combos and what your opponents patterns are and you good.

I was considering preordering this today.

But it honestly just sounds like For Honor with a different coat of paint.

The kind of game that's fun at first, but you get bored of it in a few days. These games simply don't have replayability. Devs don't make big games anymore. I'd probably run through most of the content in a day or two, and I play games super slow.

Just try it for the 2 hours you can and if you don't like it steam refund it. Fighting games tend to always keep a good population and dark soul pvpers somehow stick with darksouls for years despite the fact I think it has 0 replaybility. Combine the two and it should have some good pvp replayability if you are into that kind of thing. Obviously it'll probably only take a week or two to get every single move/style so you'd only stick around for pvp and if that aint your thing then yeah it's no good.

I'd like for there to be more single player or coop content. I know the game is supposed to have a focus on PvP, but it seems kind of pointless to make a world to explore and you can explore it with friends if there isn't much to do aside from scuffle with other players on a small scale.
Maybe there's more content for soloing than it seems, or maybe that's one of their first updates, but I hope it has enough to keep people interested beyond looking for people to beat up, since thats why I would personally enjoy the game. dark souls and bloodborne are fun because PvP is a side attraction if you want it to be, and the world is yours to explore. This game seems to have a similar approach to the style of progression, but without as much content to back it up. For half the price maybe that's alright though! I'd just hate for the main draw of the game to die because their shilling hasn't worked well (which I'm not sure if it has)

Absolver you should buy if you enjoy the game, since your money is going to steam either way, try it for the first 2 hours and if you don't like it refund it and spend it later on marvel vs capcom.

Marvel vs capcom you could do the try thing as well but doesn't work as well since game release dates, additionally since its a fighting game I'd wait 1 to 2 months for the game to be patched of all the inevitable game breaking glitches.

And parry is you have to be in the right stance directly facing them to work.

I mean 100% the game will be a success in sales numbers, it's consistently been a top seller on steam.
According to internet it's at roughly 36k preorders on steam alone, not including people buying from 3rd party sites that haven't/won't deliver the key till the day of.

Games tend to sell more on launch day as well so people will certainly buy it, but will they stick with it is the issue and I honestly can't tell. I feel like the game has a reverse bell curve difficulty. So a high entry point, then you can beat the game and be meh but once you start doing lots of pvp it's gonna be another huge learning gap. I don't think most people will want to learn that much and will quit there. Then again maybe people like that these days who knows.

well i did say if done successfully. parry is the only defensive ability that garanties a counter when landed. the others don't stun the opponent.

I mean when it works it works. Parry gives you a .6 sec stun vs the other moves the player has a .5 sec recovery time.
That being said this is why feints are so important, bait out the parry, then oh shit they fucked up and destroy them. Feints / baiting out opponents is extremely important in this game.
