Pre-ordered one as soon as I could when they announced it

I didn't get the mass email that a lot of other people got that my pre-order had been cancelled due to short supplies, so I should be fine, right?

R-right?
>>
Why do you retards want this crap? Haven't you played it enough already?
>>
>>388257462
no it's not
>>
I already have one it's called ZSNES and has way more games (literally all of them)
>>
>>388257720
Jewing purposes, they're all wanting to play the reselling game.

When's the n64 mini coming out?

>>
>>388256970
Nah I already have a emulator
>>
>>388256970
I did. I got one from Walmart, and I've got a EU one from Amazon.

I'm like 80% sure I'm selling one or both of them.
>>
>>388256970
Yeah, I got loads of pre-orders. Gonna make an even bigger killing from these ninggers than I did during that dumb as fuck NES classic shit. Free money!!!!
>>
Have 7 on order from multiple retailers, 6 to flip. If they're still selling at what they're selling now, I should be able to make around $900. The NES Classic craze last holiday was the easiest $500 I made in my life.
>>
I did actually, and for myself. Though I'll admit, when I looked online today and saw them going for 500 USD on certain sites I was pretty tempted to flip it but I won't.
>>
>>388257313
hmm
The order seemed to have went through, I got a tracking number and everything, but it's not showing up in order history or current orders.
>>
i got 2 that i don't plan to sell.

One to use, and one to place inside a display at home.
>>
got 2 from walmart, shoulda prob got more but whatever
>>
I got my old trusty nes collecting dust on a shelf so I'm fine.
>>
Got one from Best Buy and possibly one from Target unless they cancel it. Christmas shopping almost done.
>>
Nah, I still have my real one.
>>
got 1 from Amazon
3 from walmart
2 from target
1 from gamestop
>>
>>388257313
Got one in my cart. Went to check out, "Woops! We're out! Sorry!"
>>
I'm gonna laugh when Walmart cancels these too. It was up way too long
>>
What are the odds hackers will bust this thing open and let you add whatever SNES rom you want on it in order to create the ultimate SNES
>>
i got my two from best buy.

walmart can never be trusted, and gamestop, well it's fucking gamestop.
>>
>>388258749
It's Nintendo so, pretty damn high. They're utterly incompetent when it comes to security
>>
>>388258749
I think very high, and if that's the case, then they'll go up in value eventually even more.
>>
Ausfag here. Not only did I get the superior design, I also was able to order it months ago.
>>
>>388256970
Yes I did
>>
>>388258959
The superior design is only available in North America, though. How did you manage that?
>>
>>388258490
>One to use, and one to place inside a display at home.
Why do people do things like this?
>>
>>388258749
You can do that already with the NES classic. Seems like they expect it due to the message that was left in there for the people who popped it, so i expect the same for snes.
>>
>>388256970
I went to GameStop the other day to grab some PSN and eShop cards and the line was crazy. When I realized I was stuck in the middle of a run on stores for a SNESmini pre-order I pinched my brow in frustration. Luckily it wasn't long before the clerks announced they were all out and pretty much everyone walked out of the joint.

Couldn't help but smirk when I got to the counter and the guy said "we don't have anymore" and I responeded "I have emulators for that".
>>
>>388259232
i hope you get brow cancer nerd
>>
>>388258826
Genuinely curious; Why are Nintendo consoles constantly hacked to hell and back? You don't see this shit nearly as much with other hardware - Are Nintendo simply complete shit with security or do their hardware just happen to attract the craziest fucking hackers?

Which, if it's the former; shouldn't Nintendo be putting more effort into their security, or do they see the risk of piracy as neglible?
>>
I got three. Hoping to sell two for ~$40 profit each to recoup the cost of the one I keep.
>>
THOSE FUCKERS CANCELLED MY ORDER. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME GODDAMNIT

>>

Nope.

>>
>>388259535
I think part of it is that they have so many safe franchises that will sell a gazillion copies whether piracy happens or not, so they don't prioritize anti-piracy measures. After all, Sony and Microsoft do not have anything that is guaranteed safe sales quite like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Smash Bros, etc.
>>
>>388256970

Check it:
- Comes with every SNES game
- It's almost invisible so it won't take any space while collecting dust in my living room
- Can boot it up and play right from my PC without having to move

- It's 100% FREE (not kidding)

Crime doesn't pay. You will learn.
>>
>>388259535
>Are Nintendo simply complete shit with security or do their hardware just happen to attract the craziest fucking hackers?
A bit of both. The Wii had a fucking joke of an OS and it's updates were sometimes as simple as sending a new System version that changed the version from 3.8 to 3.9 with a few lines to block specific titles. With the 3ds they actually became more competent but hackers be hackers and they always found a way to tinker with the console, even if it meant forcing an extremely dangerous downgrade, installing a program to retrieve a key, updating and using the key to hack the 3ds. Nowadays you could hack a 3ds while taking a shit.
>>
>>388260195
same here, been using emulators since 1997.

I bought two SNES classic because i want them.
>>
>>388259535
Here's a reason.
The DS had horrible security and it was really popular so it drew people into the concept of hacking Nintendo stuff, there was a scene but it exploded with the DS

Then the Wii came out and because the hardware was a essentially just a gamecube, it was even easier to hack that which drew more hackers to Nintendo consoles.
>>
>>388261069
Why not just buy an actual SNES then?
If you have the money to waste I mean

>>
>>388259232

>>
>>388262604
You're not making any sense annon. A fitly scalper pays Nintendo the same amount of money that a normal customer does. Difference being the scalper plans to resale at a jacked up price. Nintendo is not losing money over this unless you believe that Nintendo should be selling at that jacked price.
>>
>>388262203
Hey if you got the money to spend then more power to you.. why 2 of them tho?
>>
I got 12. Anyone wanna buy one for $400?
>>
>>388257478
>No because I have a PC capable of running zsnes
You must have a shit PC, have no standards, or both.
>>
>>388262394
They could do all of that and make EVEN MORE money if they actually bothered keeping things like this in stock.
>>
>>388256970
>Four hundred ninety nine US dollars
Makes the Xbox One X look like a contestant to get my money over a PC.
>>
>>388262803
Because you're not thinking it through. Why is the scalper able to sell it for this "jacked up price"? Because the demand massively outweighs the supply. Nintendo is selling a lot fewer SNES Classics than customers are willing to buy.

Unless they're selling these at a loss for some reason, they are making a lot less money than they would if they manufactured more consoles.
>>
>>388262194
Yes, everything up to GBA and some N64 though they run kind of shitty. I was able to play No Mercy though so that's fun.
>>
>>388262803
>Difference being the scalper plans to resale at a jacked up price. Nintendo is not losing money over this unless you believe that Nintendo should be selling at that jacked price.
You're an idiot. If the scalper buys one unit to resell at a much higher price and Nintendo doesn't restock the product, other customers either have to turn to resellers to buy the product or not buy the product. In both scenarios, Nintendo is losing out on an additional $80 of profit because people are forced to buy from third-party sources.

>Person X buys Product Y from Company W
>Person Z wants to buy Product Y from Company W
>Since Product Y is not in stock at any store, Person Z has to either buy Product Y from Person X or not purchase Product Y at all
>Company W loses out on Person Z's money and Person Z is less likely to try to buy from Company W in the future
>>
>>388256970
Yeah, for 100€ from Amazon.

Just not that fucking ugly as shit NA version.
>>
>>388263128
You really are stupid if you can't understand that the main goal of the Classic series is to advertise.
Increasing the price makes it less enticing for many people, and thus reduces demand.
Shipping more means fewer people are buying Virtual Console games, which Nintendo makes more profit off of.
>>
>>388257882
No, I'm not that desperate for money.
>>
>>388257975
I kinda don't believe Nintendo can make a good enough emulator.
>>
>>388257975
The teaser they showed didn't give a release date, so your guess is as good as mine. All we know is that it's in production.
>>
>>388262080
I wish I could trust you Id buy it from you right now.
>>
>>388263578
Company W as a set goal for what they plan to produce. Although you can argue that they should produce more, if they meet that sales goal then it is a success as for as the company is concerned.

Also:
>Company W loses out on Person Z's money and Person Z is less likely to try to buy from Company W in the future

Things that have never happened in history. A shortage with high demand suddenly doesn't make demand disappear when the same event repeats. If that was the case nobody would purchase the SNES classic because of what happened to the NES classics.

>>
>>388264618
Nintendo in general.
It has a knock on effect where people who can't get a SNES Classic, reminded of either their nostalgia playing those games, or people interested in playing them find ways to play them.
Even if most people will probably grab an emulator on their phone, order a regular SNES off ebay, or just buy them off of Virtual Console, Nintendo is satisfied. The point is to get people playing Nintendo games and or get them interested in Nintendo games if they weren't before, because those people may purchase other Nintendo products.
>>
>>388264869
I'm just speculating but I think they want to limit it to one.

I'd have liked to order several to test it though.
>>
>>388256970
Yes, but Amazon seems to have over-sold it's pre-orders because they sent me an e-mail today saying my order will be delayed. Still got one though

That's about right. One of the big reasons Nintendo was caught off-guard by the demand for the NES Classic was because they imagined that it would appeal mainly to a subset of middle-aged folks with kids who remembered the NES from when they were young. Getting Nintendo's brand back into the public mind has been a big part of their recent strategy.

>>
It boggles my mind big resellers haven't implement a system to prevent scalpers yet, it would be as simple as locking down a single purchase to an IP or some kind of identification number.
>>
No I didn't preorder because I knew how futile that'll be I'm going to the store like a human being.
>>
>>388269398

>>

Genuine question, I miss old games and never liked emulating.
>>
You could buy an actual SNES and all of the games for the price that scalpers are going to charge
>>
>>388269765
>Any reason to get this over just buying them on virtual console?
Not really unless you wanna have the shit physically for novelty.

>never liked emulating
You should try it, we have cycle SNES emulators nowadays so it's literally the same as the real thing.
>>
Why would you spend this much when SNES and repro carts are so insanely cheap?
>>
>>388269902
nope.
Earthbound cartridge only goes for$150-200 itself
Many of the other titles are $40 to $50 each for cart only.
I'm guessing this will probably sell for $300-400 if supply remains short.
>>
>>388270756
Youre already paying for an emulator, might as well buy repro carts (which are superior to emulators anyway)
>>
discord.gg/u7juFVc
>>
>>388271050
>which are superior to emulators anyway
?

Also, there are some games flashcarts can't run like SuperFX games and SMRPG
>>
>>388271308
A game running on its original hardware is much less likely to have issues than an emulator
>>
>>388269191
This is why I'm not buying Nintendo shit anymore

They don't care about the consumer
>>
>>388271557
Have you ever heard of cycle accuracy?

No, I'd rather just wait for a Nintendo Switch classic in like 3 years and have it come with 50 games :^)
>>
I went to my Gamestop as soon as they tweeted they would have them in stores, and waited in store for like 45mins because they never actually sent out the SKUs.

I'm probably going to try and scalp it. Street Fighter II and Donkey Kong Country were the first games I ever played, but I won't really play these things. Where is the Switch Virtual Console? I'd buy so much shit to emulate on my Switch.

I genuinely don't understand the point of these. Well no, I get why they would make cute christmas/birthday gifts, but I don't understand why someone on /v/ would want one when there's tons of better, cheaper alternatives to play these games.

If they were super high class emulation boxes, something more akin to a clone console with snes mimicking FPGAs that could play games accurately that would be one thing, but they're not. They have a lot of the same flaws that any other emulator have

One to play, one to store as a back-up in case something happens to the first.

Don't care about the Retropie/emulator dorks, I've been playing SNES games on the original console, emulators, and virtual consoles all my life, and still can't wait for a SNES Classic.

Wish Nintendo weren't such buttholes about availability, though. I used my NEET powers to score mine but not everyone has that luxury, and I feel bad for all the die hard fans that can't get one.

>>388284081
Unforunately Nintendo has a LOT of fucking money, far too much to be desperate to sell anything. They're also old and out of touch, and continue to do things they've been doing for decades. The console shortage thing has been part of their marketing gimmicks/tricks for a long time. The only reason the Wii U wasn't in the same boat is that they marketed it SO poorly, either on accident or thinking that it could ride the Wii's coat tails, but either way it didn't rake in the normie bucks like the Wii and Switch, or NES/SNES Classics.

It's way behind the PS4 over the same timeframe, and it barely nudged out the PS4 by a few thousand units in the month of July. The PS4 won in May and June, while being nearly 4 years old.

Being out of stock will always make something look popular.

About 30 minutes after I heard (via Twitter) that GameStop opened up pre-orders, I drove to the GS in the local mall, which tends to get more stock than a lot of the standalone stores around it, and preordered the 7th or 8th out of 18 units.

Yes. We have. You continually give the Switch free passes while ignoring the fact that the PS4 didn't even launch globally and didn't launch with any games worth mentioning, let alone a metacritic 98 game

"March" isn't a get out of jail free card as much as you want it to be
>>
>>388256970

>>
>>388289721
And if you believe the shitposters, 70 million people bought a PS4 to play Bloodborne.

Switch has a lot to prove. 5 million is nothing and could easily be explained by having very highly rated titles available within its launch window, something that's very unusual for Nintendo hardware as of late. Will it keep up this pace after it hits 10, 15, 20, 25 million? You'd like to pretend its success is guaranteed but it's not at all.

I never said or implied that emulators are a hidden niche concept mongoloid. I just said that the attitude in these threads that the snes mini is better than emulators thus justifying your own bias after spending 70 dollars to play 20 games that others can get for free.

Everyone knows what an emulator is, the fact that you thought that I was implying otherwise shows your poor reading comprehension and outright stupidity in being able to carry a conversation. Actually Nintendo would still be making more money than each individual scalper.

A scalper doesn't buy EVERY SINGLE one of the demanded product. They will usually buy a handful or just one sometimes, any amount that can be resold at high price. So Nintendo made money off of a scalper buying the product, now the scalper has to make BACK the cost by selling it for more. He decides to put the products up on eBay for $100 a piece.

Here's the thing though, not everyone who wants to buy an SNES Classic, Amiibo or anything like that wants to buy it for way over the price range. So then at the end of the week the scalper will likely have sold one or two and not make back the costs. He would have spent for example $90 each for the 6 SNES Classics he scalped which means he spent $540, and through reselling he only makes $200 back. Basically he's wasted his money for selling them above average and mommy will get mad at them and not give them their chicken tendies for dinner.

I really don't get the appeal of this garbage. Even if it's just for reselling purposes, I can't even imagine a lot of hipsters buying into this.

>If you really want an SNES, you might as well just get the fucking original one.
The cost of a SNES by itself would easily be $40-$60.
Then there's the matter of games which each range from $20-$190 depending on the game and its rarity. Earthbound alone costs $160-$190 on average. If you wanted to buy the whole collection of games available on the SNES Classic it would end up costing at least 15 times as much as just buying the SNES Classic.

I agree with you on the emulation part but the SNES Classic really is the best option if you want to (sort of) own the games and the console physically for a cheap price.

>I care because Composite fucking ruins the picture quality.
You can play video games just fine on composite. Composite is cheap, ubiquitous, and provides a more accurate experience for retro gaming than S-Video, RGB, or HDMI.

I already have composite cables for all of my retro consoles. Why should I spend more money on an S-Video switch and multiple S-Video cables when I could save that money or use it for more worthwhile things like more video games?
