I haven't played the first, the port, or the second game, but the third game is damn good.

It has great level design, music is dope, characters move and attack really well.
Camera is easy to get used to, and it features a great variety of weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and transformations.
Also includes a good amount of unlockables, fun bosses, mini-games, and even includes Mesal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Ape Escape mini-game.

Story is pretty bland that's about it.
