Comfy as fuck with an atmosphere that makes one feel curious again, but 3 didn't capture the same feel as the first two games.
Should've been PS4 exclusive that pushes the hardware to its limits

Never played LBP1 but I liked LBP2 a lot. Only real downside is the overly floaty platforming. Everything else is pretty great. I really like how innocent and pure this game is more than anything else. In an age where every single fucking game has to be either gritty and realistic or ironic and quippy, it's refreshing to go back and play this for an hour every now and then. Its style has a childlike innocence to it and it's fun as fuck.
>>
>>388238159

Im pretty sure you can make those as well, among other genres like racing or fps.
>>

>Only real downside is the overly floaty platforming.

Yet if you messed with switches and made a custom bot that you play as you can change the way it controls. I played a straight up samus clone in LBP2 with the same controls and jumping distance. It's just that it took so much time most people didn't bother to make levels using this method despite there being tons of tutorials online on how to do it.
>>
>>388238159
It could be fun but idk if I'd spend as much time in it as LBP

Seems like it's going to suffer the same problem the LBP community did to a larger degree. Being a game that essentially requires you to learn a complex program to make decent levels.

I'm sure we'll get good community levels, but much like its predecessor, it's all going to be drowned out in an ocean of shit.

I like them. It may sound a bit strange but I don't think Sony is the right company to handle such an IP. Not that I hate Sony or anything. They just usually don't push games of this type. Most of the games they make and most of what their audience seems to want are these M rated "mature" and "cinematic" type games. LBP seems like it would be more at home being with Nintendo or 3rd party. Not as a exclusive for Sony.

Sadly it looks like the series declined. Which as I said, shouldn't be all too surprising since Sony fans don't appreciate an interesting franchise like that. Also great music for these games.

>>388238115

>>
>>388245838
You are literally on crack if you think that. They may have decently marketed the game but that doesn't mean they are the right fit for such a franchise. I mean it is theirs obviously so of course nothing can be done about that. It is just a very odd fit. It is a lot like Microsoft buying the exclusive rights to some of those JRPG games during 360 days. It wasn't a fit for them either since their audience just doesn't give a shit for games like that and more importantly, they don't even really push games of that type. The only reason they did it was to gain a Japanese audience that never came.
>>
https://youtu.be/qyl4SDFbia8

Great times playing the first two games. Even the Vita game was pretty good and yielded some great creative levels like that one where a guy basicly photographed all the gaming crap around his room and made it into platforms.

3 really shit the bed. Connection issues everywhere, a shitload of dlc wouldn't work, and it just lacked the charm of the others. No memorable music or atmosphere. And like someone else already said LBP3 should have been PS4 exclusive and took advantage of the hardware.

I had so much fucking fun in LBP1 and 2 back in the day. It was basically all I would play, and I made a ton of friends, a couple of which I'm still good friends with today. There are few games I get as crazy nostalgic about. I don't think I've had as much fun playing a game as I did with LBP1.
>it's been almost 10 years since LBP1 released

>>
>>388229007
Love all of them. LBP1 is the one i played the most and have the most nostalgia towards. I played LBP2 a ton as well. LBP3 was too childish and not in the "anyone in the family can enjoy this!" but more like a just for kids adults will find it kind of annoying.

Okay first of all, how could you say a third party developer wouldn't have the budget? You think EA or Activision are poor or something? It doesn't even need to be them. I could easily see less rich companies being able to do such games.

Also the fuck are you talking about? No shit my post is subjective. I wasn't implying otherwise.
>>
I loved this shit so much that I joined a forum for it and posted a ton of drawings of it there. I had a thread where I would draw everyone's sackboys. I sort of got a reputation on that tiny forum and drew so many people's sackboys that Spaff (one of the guys from Media Molecule) actually emailed me gave me a code for a crown because of it. It was neat.

>>
>>388247686
Kinda sounds like too much effort to hook up my PS3 and boot up the game and transfer the screenshots over. If this thread is still up by the time I get the chance to do it, then sure.
>>
>>388247229
>first of all, how could you say a third party developer wouldn't have the budget?
good point, but I still think 3rd party would be worse. EA made some great IPs but fucked em up completely (Mirror's Edge, Dead Space). Sony relied on exclusives meme and forced series to continue even if the game is niche and hard to market, and they pulled it off well. Nintendo has shitton of IPs that they rely on and they're just testing waters with new ones and it's a very different caliber (new recent nintendo IPs? arms? seems like a game with smaller budget and a game of a smaller scale, in a sense)

Now THESE days 3rd party devs started falling for a different meme - instead of releasing sequels every once in a while they release one game with loot crates/dlc and support it for next couple of years, which is probably something a big 3rd party developer would do with LBP. Not sure how to feel about that.

Microsoft pursues different target audience. I might be wrong on that one, just not sure. Microsoft is trying to change their policy on investing in vidya and publishing it but it seems like they're just recovering from fucking their shit up with xbone and trying to play it safe, not making new IPs but finding games of a smaller scale and investing in the devs, forcing them to make games exclusives or have some exclusive content. If small 3rd party studio developed modern LBP now, Microsoft would probably pick that up and make it a timed exclusive or something with PC and PS4 release in future

they way it turned out, i'm not sure. 3rd party publisher would just kill LBP after the first installment
>>
>>388248169
I'd argue LBP would have sold more if it was multiplatform. It would be on 2, maybe 3 consoles plus PC. That could only help such a franchise out. Plus PC would bring in mod capability.
>>
>>388229007
its the reason i dont own a playstation
>>
>>388248998
it would still bring a small amount. Sony doesn't care about that all that much - sony does, of course, but selling a system is much more important than selling a game. finding a compentent dev, funding a AAA game, investing time and money, in a situation like that you need more payoff than just the money from game sales.

it feels very limited by PSP hardware, in a bad way. When I play Tekken 6 it's limited in a good way, they cut the campaign and some modes but the core stuff is there, the gameplay is pretty much identical. GTA - same, they cut some corners but it's your 3D gen GTA right there, sometimes even better than the original. LBP PSP feels even more clumsy, core elements are not there, etc etc.
>>
I'm thinking 'bout buying the first game again, the story mode for that was great. I would have never played LBP if it wasn't for PSN getting hacked and Sony giving away 2 free games as an apology. It was worth not going online for however long.

While 2 and 3 added a lot of great new features it kind of lost its charm in the process and became a bit too much focused on being simple and for kids. Both were also far less creative, the campaign in the 1st game was pretty well designed and varied in comparison.

The map editor was great though

/wsg/ already confirmed for having better taste than /m/. there is a live active breakbeat thread.
>>
i played them all pirated so i can't say much about the online levels and all that, but as far as the singleplayer mode, I liked 1 the best, then 2 and 3, then psp.

Dreams will come out by the end of the year right?
>>
>>388229007
The only reason I'd buy a PS4 at this point is for Media Molecules dreams.
That's how much I loved LBP1/2
>>
>>388253182
kinda doubt it, there isn't enough marketing shit out there
when you're fed trailers and promotion materials consistently for a year or so yeah it's coming out soon, not the case i guess
>>
>>388253182
Nah Dreams will just have its beta announced. Release date is at best late 2018.

I think.
I hope for earlier but who knows. They have been cooking dreams for quite some time now.

It almost has to be no?
I had the original LBP beta way back when, i fucking hope i get into this one aswell.

I liked the first one.
Charming and fun

It's because of reeeal physics or whatever but you get the hang of it pretty quickly

Story mode levels were comparatively uninspired along with unnecessary voice acting and a trio of new characters that were gimmicky, and it was buggy as hell
>>
>>388257965
How were the online levels?
>>
>>388259067
A bunch of them were a lot of fun. Especially if you were playing with friends.

It sucks knowing I'll never experience anything like LBP 1 & 2 again

I've met so many nice and creative people who gave me some of the weirdest and funnest experiences I've had in an online game, and really the most fun I've ever had with a video game.

LBP1 is my personal 10/10, favorite game of all time. I didn't care about the floatiness, it felt fine to me, and I had fun with it. Hitting those corner jumps that gave you double jump height and abusing it to get out of bounds was always fun. good shit

Now now there is a chance that the Dreams campaign from media molecule will be fire like LBP campaign was.
Remember it is supposed to just show off creativity.
>>
Anyone want to group together and play it?
I've got 1, 2 on PS3 and 3 on PS4 if anyone's interested. I'd love to play through a bunch of shitty community levels with /v/
>>
>>388261845
Don't have my PS3 connected at the moment but i have LBP3.
We could just make a group on psn.
>>
>>388261965
Sounds cool. Leave some PSN names if anyone's interested. I'm about to go out and I'll check the thread when I get home.
>>
>>388262047
We just need a name of the PSN group. Don't need PSN id's. We all just find it.
>>
>>388262149
/v/BP or something like that?
>>
The netcode is utter shit so you may want to think twice about wasting your time. I mean it always was but last time I played Lbp3 we're talking unplayability, 5min level load times, impossible to cooperate/out of sync etc
>>
>>388262492
Sure
>>388262520
hmm you sure?
>>
>that fucking complex method/workaround of creating a controllable bot in LBP 2

Why couldn't they just give us a controllable bot
>>
>>388262492
Have fun, guys. I don't have time right now and I won't probably use my PS3 for at least half or full year. This game was really comfy and had unique feeling. 2 was a big improvement but the feeling was also different. I was playing 3 for a while at my cousin's place but it was really disappointing.
>>
>>388263206
>Have fun, guys

You were his only partner, faggot. Go play with him

Yeah i don't know. It seems like people aren't up for it. We need more enthusiasm than just 2 faggots.

This is some crazy tech. Remember this is just a few years into exploring it.
I hope this tech eventually becomes the standard for games (and they find out how to achieve PBR type graphics aswell).

No it isn't.
Zbrush isn't comparable for various reasons.
Also the soft presentation isn't possible in almost all other engines.
