What do you think about foods in Breath of the Wild?
>>
>>388228086
I don't care but the open world is an ugly empty copy pasta'd shitheap
>>
>>388228086
i'd feed him with my meat if you know what i mean
>>
>>388228086
I preferred the old method of bottles and hearts hidden in the environment.
>>
The meat and mushroom dishes look delicious.
>>
Terrible compared to Vanillaware food
>>
>>388228086
I don't care much for opening your inventory just to heal, as it feels cheap and unfair.
>>
>>388228531
You are saying without pics?
>>
>>388228086
They look delicious and always make me hungry.

>>388228293
Hi there, Sony-friend. Still copypasting stuff, huh?
>>
>>388228086
so good someone I know wrote a 600,000 word fanfic about it
>>
One of the poorly utilized aspects of the game. There's zero reason to make any of the fancy dishes.
>>
>>388228796
fanfic about foods?
>>
>>388228293
6 months and this faggot is still butthurt
>>
>>388228528

i just put hearty ingredients + fill the rest with apples for the whole game
if you claim to use the stealthy food or whatever then you're a liar
>>
>>388229450
Some people use stealth food for farming ingredients.
>>
>>388229872
explain.
>>
>>388228086
why did you say foods plural when the only healing item in the game is hearty simmered fruit +4
>>
>>388229450
I used Stealthy food a lot for the first 20 hours or so, because I first ventured to west, didn't see a single human being or hearty ingredient for dozens of hours, and getting one-shotted by Moblin and Lizalfoses with 25+ weapons and shields was a real threat I tried to avoid.

And later on, sometimes, thanks to environmental hazards and shit making Sheika suit unpractical, I used Stealth elixirs or food instead.

>>388230005
What's there to explain?
Three stealth bars = you can literally run up to animals, fishes and bugs, and grab them alive.
>>
>>388228086
I wish you could cook several dishes at once
>>
>>388229261
>spoiler
name one
>>
>>388228086
The food looks good, sucks that there's no recipe book to keep track of ingredients.

It's also annoying that you have to keep opening the menu to eat. Enemies take out so much health in one attack you have to keep doing it.

Or git gud I guess.

Best game I've played in years.
>>
>>388228531
vanillaware is better, but i wouldn't turn down botw food
>>
Way too much of a focus in the game. Like most of the other "things to do", it's pretty useless and tedious.
>>
>>388228086

Too exploitable. Hero Mode in SS/TPHD/WWHD actually had the right idea - kill heart drops but also force the player to invest in potions before heading out to venture if they want to be able to heal. It's a good system that worked and Zelda felt like a more solid challenge with its implementation. You can cheese a good chunk of BotW's shit by stocking up on dozens of apples, let alone even entertaining the cooking mechanic. That said, some of the food does look good. Not Vanillaware good, but good nonetheless.
>>
>>388232324
How can we make them useful then?
Removing hearty foods can be a way
>>
>>388228086
You should've only been able to eat ingredients if you did it when you found it.
If you picked it up it should only have been usable in cooked food.
>more like traditional hearts
>no infinite health bullshit
>less going into menus to top off your health
>having to see what type of plant you ate off the ground could add some depth with having to remember what's poisonous and not
>>
>>388232426

Not too sure, but the "crafting system" seems to be barebones as hell and really annoying to use. Perhaps the ability to make poisons and weapons from food? Through some crafting system other than the cauldron?
>>
>>388232541
Making a own gear would be cool, but Link isn't blacksmith.
And if you managed to make some weapons, they also can break.
Poison isn't for E rated game, or Zelda more specifically.
>>
>>388232819

Sure, but he's not a chef, either. It wouldn't be difficult to have a repair table, or a crafting table of some kind to make rudimentary weapons, at least. The fact they can break just makes it more useful.

And sure, poison doesn't fit the kiddie aesthetic, but they could easily be debuffs with a different name.

How come Link eats so much but never poops?

anon doesn't say anything about Sony, why conjure console wars?
>>

Actually I thought that Goron blacksmith can repair/or make some weapons. I agree you partially.

>Actually I thought that Goron blacksmith can repair/or make some weapons

Likely. I've not really done much in the game, after playing for like..10 hours. Just fucking around, really.
>>
>>388228086
Made me crave mushroom stews a lot more.

Apparently i've created some sort of signature dish as a side-effect of that.
>>
>>388233883
You will meet goron blacksmith and his son(maybe). however they give nothing but subquest.
It's such a waste of character.
>>
>>388234118

Okay, fair enough.

Though...unpopular opinion, I know..I may never get around to doing that. I find BOTW to be really boring, to be honest.
>>
How can one game be so enjoyable but so disappointing at the same time?
Finished my first playtrough a couple weeks back and I really want to replay it but that sense of disappointment is still there
>>
>>388228086
>Breath of the Wild
Open world games like this one are pure cancer just like Horizon or any other game
>>
3 speed elixrs and hearty dishes made up 90% of my dishes
>>
>>388234576

Seems like only Rockstar can do this genre properly.

Most of the games in it, like botw, are very good at being open, but forget to add a world. There's nothing engaging or immersive in them.

I think it's ultimately a poor mechanic.

They needed a "cookbook" menu of sorts, where you could just cook what things you wanted immediately. Having to scroll through my inventory to make an item that gives a short buff seems pointless when I can just create something that heals 5 hearts. The food buffs are cool ideas and additions, but there just isn't enough reason to do it and having to go through the cooking motions of selecting ingredients and skipping the cutscene takes awhile.
If they wanted to improve it, add a list of dishes you can make regardless of ingredients and cook them that way. Organization of materials and ingredients.

The fact that you're literally invincible in this game is despicable. You will never get one shot - you get knocked down to 1/4 heart and then when you hit the ground, THAT is when you die. This means if you ever take "lethal" damage, you just pause and heal. "Harder" enemies would do more hearts of damage, which just meant you needed to pause and eat more. It's tedious, stupid, and not well thought out. I ultimately prefer the old healing system.
>>
>>388228086
Looks alright. Far from Vanillaware's cuisineporn.

Mechanically nothing that special
>>
>Actually cooking
>not autistically collecting everything until you have 999 of every material

Summer is almost over.
