Where do you want Skyrim 2 to take place?

I know Daggerfoll was in High Rock but not since Bethesda took over and it's a classic medieval setting with castles so they can milk it once again(+ dwemer ruins in high rock as well) or a Summerset Isle, just because it's an island it would be easier to code as a sandbox map. Just ocean around it etc. What do you think?

Valenwood. Normies love elves, and based Todd will completely retcon the Bosmer's lore and turn them from cannibal tree-huggers into mystical, immortal elves

>>
>>388224114
Having two provinces is a mistake.
Having a single province already is a mistake.
It should be set on a smaller area like Vvardenfell and then fill it up with tons of content, making it feel bigger than it really is.
>>
It will be another Redguard title: quest for white pussy
>>
>>388221928

>>
>>388224230
Or, ideally, having a LARGE play area with tons of diverse landscapes and peoples that also feels big. Not everything has to be morrowind, you know.
>>
Valenwood would be a good contrast to Skyrim in terms of terrain and also having a Mer culture, but Todd will probably retcon it into generic fantasy forest #300.

I honestly would be fine with Bethesda making half of lets say Blackmarsh or any province, just half. Why half? Because then they could fill that "just half a province" with actual fucking honest to god interesting content.

>Skyrim
Massive amounts of nothing with the odd interest
>Oblivion
Massive amount of nothing with the odd interest
>Morrowind
Large amounts of nothing with the odd interest

The Elder scrolls games have always been too little butter spread over too much toast. The content that gets some love is alright, but the rest is just dry, flavorless and nothing to hold your appetite.

The retards asking for 2 WHOLE PROVINCES??? holy shit do you guys want to go back to Oblivions randomized encounters? It's all fine and well saying they could make this or that but think about it, when have they ever filled the map with shit to actually do, look at or interact with?

Summerset's Tower (Crystal-Like-Law) was one of the first to fall.
Ada-Mantia is still up, thankfully. Snow Throat is also still probably up. Red Mountain is most likely deactivated. White-Gold is deactivated. There's a theory that the Khajiiti Tower might be deactivated.
Valenwood's is still up, I guess, if the Thalmor didn't deactivate it since the rule over it. I think Hammerfell still has one.
The Hist may or may not serve as a Tower.

Elsweyr would be the most interesting since the khajiits have quite fleshed out lore and an already known culture of travel and commerce, also getting an opportunity to see the Mane would be interesting
But if Im going to be realistic I would say the area between Morrowind and Black Marsh, theres still a massive conflict between the Dunmer and Argonians going on and that could be interesting
Or Hammerfell, the redgaurd lore is pretty cool with sword singing and nuke swords, a return to their magic arts would be a good hook and there aren't enough RPGs based in deserts

When have Bethesda ever made a "wilderness" that was worth taking the time to look at or explore. I would love it if I could get lost in the snowy mountains of skyrim, I would gladly get lost for hours in the forests of Cyrodiil if they were actually worth it, they never are though, they're ugly barren spots of emptiness which is there for no other reason than to make the game bigger than it should be.

I don't even have a problem with areas of no value, forests there for no reason than just to have a forest there. The issue is these "areas of no value" take up a large amount of the map.

I wish they'd go back to doing just a small part of a nation, like in Morrowind.

The games are too small to feel believable as a whole nation. Imagine if instead of all of Cyrodil, they just focused on one region. It would have a capital city, like Bruma for example, that could be as big as they made the Imperial city. Then it could have several smaller settlements as big as the normal towns were in the game. The scope just makes much more sense that.

I have noticed a lot more people, even the occasional casual, picking up on how ridiculous gaming has become with microtransactions, paid DLC, loot crates and other shenanigans. I'm hoping that sentiment will reach critical mass and the resulting backlash will do something to get our hobby back to something approaching a normal situation. A guy can dream .

It'll take a long time though.

It's ridiculous though; I mean for my job I contribute to big purchases and those involve long ass projects that take like 6 people 2 years or something. Some of the business models in gaming today still make no sense at all to me.

Wait what.
Redpill me on this
>>
>>388229474
Jumping from a setting like Skyrim to something like Summerset wouldn't work. You can already see the normalfags sperging out a the sight of a single Altmer in Dominion uniform.
I think that Elsweyr would be a great setting which can also be used to explored the Dominion's side of the story without going full blown with it.
They are still completely wrong and retarded though

Yeah at least more people are starting to call the devs on their bullshit, It'll be slow but in my opinion overall things are starting to look up albeit slowly.

Honestly I can't wait for the next big crash so we can start with a clean slate again. There will probably be a big draught of games in the interim, but I've got a huge backlog anyway. It'll be worth it. I hope.

>alot of wilderness without any exciting elements

Difference is in real life I can actually do shit in that wilderness, ingame all you can do is admire the ugly ass textures.

>Most of the game is SUPPOSED to look empty.

I bet you love walking simulators.

"openworld" isn't an excuse to throw out in the games defence. If they spent less time making large amounts of nothing and more on making it look better then it would be better off for it. I don't buy fantasy open world RPG's to admire at how empty it is, at how realistic this feels because in the real world this happens too. If it has empty patches then at least make them worth looking at.

Okay so I know Valenwood is a popular opinion. But idk if that's something they would do. I mean a primarily Elven province is such a far departure from what they have been doing, It would seem almost alien
>inb4 Morrowind

Yeah I know that was primarily dark elves and Morrowind was pretty alien... But I am talking about the games that really skyrocketed Bethesda into popularity. And that is Oblivion and Skyrim....

I don't think we'll see another crash, not on the scale of the last one. Honestly, and this may be my own Jaded perceptions (though I'm not as jaded as some I still enjoy gaming I do, just not as excited about things) tinting my views on this, but people seem allot less excited about games and such now. Maybe that's just me though and my own thoughts effecting how I see it but hell you'd at least see some negative stuff about upcoming games on top of good stuff and now there just seems to be less of it, I don't know maybe it's just me, but it seems like the downturn is beginning. I don't think a big crash will happen, a small one maybe not nothing that'll leave a big void in the market for a year or two before someone swoops in like the big crash. It's too international for that to happen, technically the crash only happened in the US, or mostly happened there.
>>
>>388231741
never because they've built them up as a spoopy race of brainiacs that us brainlets could never comprehend
>>
>>388230754
>>388231862
First, vydia crashed and companies stopped jewing on it.
Now, vydia is succesfull so companies are jewing it non-stop.
You are not witnessing another crash. You are witnessing the creative bankruptcy of an industry, it's all turning into lifeless normalfag shekel mining
>>
>>388232108
Yeah it's that backing it has now why I don't think we'll see something huge, a minor dip or something maybe, but not a full on crash like back in the day. It's too big for that now.
>>
>>388221928
TES is dead. You will never get another game that isn't a soulless casualized piece of trash. Who cares where they set it.
>>
>>388231862
Maybe you're right, time will tell. All I hope for is that there will be a healthy place on the market for games / developers with desirable business practices. (So no microtransaction bullshit).

As an aside, I read an interview with that guy who is making FFXV on PC and he was like really honest about how it would perform. He fully admitted that even a 1080ti couldnt do 4k@60fps yet and how SLI will have certain problems. You know what, I really appreciate that. Now we're doing business like adults. This is how I like to be treated as a customer. Just be honest about what I can expect, I'll make an informed decision, go in knowing what I can and cannot expect and be a lot more likely to just enjoy the product for what it is.

The sad thing though, is that the above is so fucking rare.
>>
>>388232369
This pretty much. I'm a huge TES fan and I just want the series to die now.
Let it rest.

I will quit TES the day the fuck up Dwemer.
Closest they can do is some sort of a vision of past to showcase how Dwemer lived...maybe another living Dwemer or a small settlement but they would have to do a good justification like they were in a pocket of Oblivion just like Yagarn when the disapearance happened.
The key is that they should not know what happened to Dwemer themselves.
>>
>>388230858
Bretons do not claim to be descendants of Ayleids, they are descendants of Direnni and Aldmer.
Correct me if I am wrong though.
>>
>>388235117
If the next TES starts answering up questions like what happened to the Dwemer or how Akavir looks like I'll fucking suicide bomb Todd
But ironically
go away FBI
>>
>>388235312
They can drop hints to answers, including contradicting answers.
They've done this before, like in Arniel's Endeavor.
But if they answer stuff bluntly it will be pure trash.
>>
>>388235228
Every elf was once Aldmer. Ayleids are just Altmer that migrated to Cyrodiil, there they mass raped humans and eventually the Bretons were born from it.
The Direnni (which also had Ayleids) first conquered High Rock and then the Nords/Cyrods conquered it back and then the Bretons settled there.
>>
>>388235449
>But if they answer stuff bluntly it will be pure trash
That's what I'm talking about. Unreliable narrators and contradicting answers is pure TES lore, when you start giving answers as 100% true its when it goes to shit
>>
>>388225486
Can you imagine having taste this shit? Especially since we're talking about setting. There was absolutely nothing interesting about Oblivion's setting.
>>
>>388227373
1. Well if your a prisoner, I would like it to be similar to Morrowind where you are actually released, not some chosen one bullshit or escape from prison.

2. If it is set in Valenwood, I would like there to be an Imperial presence fighting the Thalmor for control over the province while some of the Bosmer are either in open rebellion against both or sided with one.

Valenwood would be cool if done properly, but guaranteed it won't be. The cities are built high up in sentient walking trees. The ground level is teeming with dangerous creatures, so everything is built on canopies and platforms. The trees are meant to be hugged close together, so no huge clearings, and thr elves can swing amongst the trees. No chance Bethesda will bother trying to program dynamically wandering cities.
>>
>>388221928
I hope it's Hammerfell and we get to see the Capital of the Dwemer's western kingdom, just like an utterly massive and complex ruin. Bonus points if we get a lot of dwemer lore and if Volendrung is there. I know it had been taken pretty soon after the Dwemer arrived and corrupted by Malacath, but it'd be cool if there was something like in Skyrim with the Azura Star Quest where you can purify it.
