I actually love to play card games, I just hate the ultrajew business model that usually accompanies them. I'm also not a fan of needless high range randomness like the shit in Hearthstone (Yogg being the most obvious example). Don't get me weong, not all randomness is bad and there is inherent randomness in all card games simply by virtue of drawing cards.

However, say there are two cards, both cost the same mana, one does 5 damage every time and the other does 1-9 damage. They both do the same damage on average, but the second one is shit design and is just annoying for both players involved.
