I tend to dislike them as well as generic grassland regions. X surprised the shit out of me with how well-crafted its world was. Didn't think any game would make me love a generic starting area as much as I loved traversing Primordia.

Snow/Ice/Winter levels are always better. Slippery mechanics in those levels are the equivalent of quicksand in desert levels, in that they're both annoying and no one has ever once thought either was a good mechanic.
