In my case I do know where my dps leaks came from; I remember disengaging the fuck away when the boss hopped to briar tile since I didn't want to risk getting vuln ticks on a tank/healer, and minor leaks during mindjack and spellblade holy stuns. It wasn't a flop to reddit. Reddit loves this trash. Reddit can't get enough of it. Same with those that have sunk cost imprinted on their very beings, those that will continue to play it and constitute its die hard core in perpetuity. The same ones that spam this fucking board with their pseudo-generals because /vg/ is such a cess pit. But to speak of its quality: it's very formulaic. In fact, XIV hasn't changed at all since its release.

The first week of a content update is like eating sweet candy. You get to see all of the cool sights, the bosses that were ripped off from previous games because Yoshida's team is so creatively bankrupt, you get to speed through the two (2) dungeons they give you with each update. After you've seen it all it's back to eating stale bread for months and months, or even years if your only draw is the raid tier.

If you like stale bread, then go for it. Have a blast.

If you want something structurally sound you play Legion. It has plenty of flaws but there just is nothing else that comes close to a game that rakes in over a billion dollars each year.

Yeah, eventually it'll probably get to that point. The 50ish hours I played leveling in WoW was actually pretty fun though. It might just be because it's all new, and I'm burnt out on XIV at around 5000 hours, but I liked it a lot better than XIV's roulette and dungeon spam.
I also really hate how claustrophobic XIV's maps are. WoW is pretty huge and open, and I enjoy exploring. WoW's community also seems to be more cozy and normie compared to the stutterposting weebs with anime character names on XIV.

I suppose it comes down to preference, but I like having one as the same class as my DoW/DoM main (to recycle old gear) and another as a DoL. The former are really useful in getting crafting mats that drop from mobs (Halgai Manes, etc.). Sending the latter class out on exploration ventures can net you some cool minions, but in general, I think the DoW ones are a bit more useful since the DoL ones can only gather a select few materials and even then not very efficiently. Still, if you go miner or botanist, you can get crystals and clusters, I think, which might be helpful. The benefit of having a fisher retainer is a chance at getting the Fat Cat and Gestahl minions. As someone whose only DoL retainer is fisher, it's not super useful. Go with what sounds more useful to you. Your retainer's class doesn't have a bearing on Quick Exploration, I don't think.

You play this game for a while and pretty much everything about DF will annoy you. Healers who use medica II or aspected randomly during a pull where none of the adds are capable of dealing aoe damage is infuriating. Hearing the cure/physick/benefic healing ping every gcd while the healer does 0 dps is also annoying as hell. SCHs are the worst though, shitstains who're so used to 3.x healing. The easiest healer role to dps in, all you need to do is Bane once or Miasma II and you're doing 1k+ minimum and I have to fucking sit there hearing adlo/physick pings every gcd.

Personally, I enjoyed 14 more than WoW because its more casual, and dealing with work as a recent uni graduate is a god send, I can play for two hours a day, clear O1S-2S enjoy, have decent gear and be happy.

Meanwhile, WoW is an absurd grind in everything, fights didnt seemed as exciting as FF (at least until nighthold) the game absurd rng means you cant plan your gear or your objectives nicely, its too focused on combat instead of various little things to do in 14 (not RP obv.).

So in the end, 14 feels more polished, easier to understand and to play with someone who's not a neet, and that plays and does other stuff besides a single mmo.

Into the "big project" money pit. This game is used to fund shit like FFXV and KH3, in fact it wasn't until shortly after SB released that KH3 finally got an actual release date. They reinvest the bare minimum to keep this game afloat, hell Yoshi himself has said they're only 3-4 additional development staff away from being able to deliver another Savage fight per tier but they somehow can't get the help despite this game making money hand over fist.
