Honestly thought it was neat that they resurrected Breen in such a pathetic way. Puts into context how futile mankind vs the Combine really was.

EP1 is a dead give away.

Its when you first encounter the incubator pods that are launching and it turns on. The FIRST thing you see before one launches and attacks you is Breen discussing with an advisor on a big screen saying he would die under "those conditions" so agrees to a host body.

That scene actually is at the end of HL2, but they replay it on a screen in EP1 at the pods.

Then you are attacked.

Then its pretty much fact that the one you awaken in the Barn in EP2 IS Breen, but you woke him up early so he doesnt really recognize you, and he gets hurt and flys away.

Then hes the one who actually is at the Silo in EP2, you can only see him for a few seconds as the Silo closes, most people dont see it. Now Breen is kinda on a revenge mindset.

Then hes one of the two that attack you at the end, and kills Eli most likely for his brain juice and memories.

EP1 is the biggest hint that Breen is in fact in an advisor body(which all look like Grubs) because of the foreshadowing of the video and part that plays in HL2.

EP2 is just going off of basic storytelling, why foreshadow that Breen is an advisor and NOT have him play a part in EP2.
