This thread is pretty retarded honestly, because they were pretty open about taking it to PC since before the console launch. It was unofficially confirmed that it would be released on PC approximately a year to a year and a half later just before the console launch too.

This was only a shock to people who weren't paying attention. Especially when you consider that Japan has finally realized how profitable Steam is, it's become extremely common to do a release on PC for most JRPGs.

I'm not sure why people think a PC release is a sign that a game did poorly on consoles. Even if it did well, why would you not release it on PC? The only reason not to is if you have an exclusivity agreement that prevents you from doing it at all. If you aren't tied to the console, it's literally free money considering how (relatively) cheap it is to port games to PC.

Generally for westerners. The PC market is shit in Japan, since culturally it's a very small market of PC gamers (for a variety of reasons).

Most of the time, the western release is playable in Japan if the JP player wants to reverse import it though. A lot of them have the ability to switch to Japanese text and audio.
