Shogun 2: Total War

It's the best "modern" Total War game. Don't overlook Fall of the Samurai, it's a great expansion.

It's the best historical title since Medieval 2, even though it has its follies.

All of the TW games are good in their own rights OP, you should check them out. I recommend going back to Rome 1 and Medieval 2 before playing more of the modern ones since they have a lot of replayability with modding and what not.

Sadly I get bored after 2-3 battles in campaign. Really not that hard to learn counters and then move units on hills and win battles.

OP here, I played alot of Rome 1 in my time. While I think the combat is better than Shogun 2, the non-Rome campaigns seem kind of empty and hollow. There is nothing to stop you from just snowballing

Excellent game.
Very polish, beautiful music and immersive atmosphere, campaign can be played many times and it remains interesting. Less types of units so it's easy to pick up but still offers a lot of possibilities.

Fall of the Samurai is probably my favorite expansion of any TW game. It radically changes the battles and the strategies you need to use. Also it has that new vs old, tradition vs modernity atmosphere that's truly fascinating.

fuck those god damn landing parties stranding themselves on some god forsaken beach, running away, and then hiding in the forest when my extermination party comes over to wipe them off the map. I had to setup a net 4 of navies in both the north and south seas just so I could crush the fuckers before they pulled their bullshit again.

The last good TW game.
And fuck you, killmoves fit properly in the setting, japs are weird like that. Nation that randomly decided that personal shields are not worth using even though everyone and his grandma uses a bow.
