Don't remember well enough too far back, but 2014 was definitely the worst recently. That was the year that every game launched absolutely broken, where the highest praises went to relatively mediocre games like Shadows of Mordor/Far Cry 4 because at least they weren't unplayable.

Mania is not really a good platformer, it's just like classic sonic, pretty, good music and bland mechanics.
Putting indies aside, the greatest platformer i've played was DK Country Tropical Freeze, I even replayed it this week, it blows mania out of the water in every regard except music.

I don't understand why people like Gravity Rush 2.
I've played or tried every great game released this year and I see people try and hold Gravity Rush up with the rest but it's not a good game at all. It's far less enjoyable than the rest.
I know other people are entitled to their opinions but I just honestly don't know what it is that makes people think that game is good.

Shadow of Mordor was just an Assassin's Creed clone, with a poorly thought out Nemesis system which was cool in theory but poor in practice. I did at least like the game though. DAI was a game with an awful cast and a villain who was introduced in dlc for the previous game and his ambitions were laughably simplistic and the game's morality was clear black and white. The combat wasn't horrible but the war table was retarded and most of the choices as usual didn't matter. The true ending was dlc anyway.

Arms never interested me but I played a bit of Splatoon. They never fixed the wonky controls and they went out of their way to make playing with friends difficult so I ended up taking it back. It's a shame too because I was really excited to power it back on after so long.
