No, i really think that we don´t need it. It´s awesome to have D2 cause i can run it on any toaster, my gf house laptop for instance, and enjoy it like the first time. I don´t think that it needs a graphics overhaul since that art style is what made him great in the first place.

You can get people on the hype train, also they could leave.
PoE for instance is very annoying in terms of building and theorycrafting for new leagues that why people don´t play it in the first place, you need to enjoy a lot this genre. Now think about this, are you going to get people into Diablo 2? And when i mean diablo 2 i mean that crazy loot distribution, the horadric cube combinations, the runes, THE FUCKING RUNES, the 3 cicles until you reach the endgame (was tedious desu) and the spikes of difficulty?
I mean is a fucking 10/10 but it could not survive nowadays.

As for the artstyle, I have to agree with you, but I'm cautiously optimistic that Blizz can improve on the graphics while keeping the style.

PoE has a worse graphical style (I can't really explain it, but the sprites just look better than the 3D stuff, maybe because PoE becomes more of a clusterfuck), and worse monster designs (like half the mobs in the game are reskinned human models and stupid fucking animals), but the lore and setting is pretty cool, certainly much more interesting than the diablo lore.

Objectively false. The only difference is that people are much more minmax oriented these days.

Who the fuck actually played a zealot or a wolf druid? Who the fuck actually played a berserker barbarian? These builds "worked" just like all the "shit" abilities work in PoE. They work, you can play the game just fine with them, but they're objectively fucking terrible when compared to clear speed metabuilds like the hammerdin. No one also played bear druid outside HC, and no one played a summon necromancer outside start-of-the-ladder MF characters (and even then anyone with half a brain would just make a sorceress). In fact, enigma is the only fucking reason so many builds were even played in the first place. Before enigma was a thing, sorceress was by far the single most played class, and the PvP scene was limited to the holy trinity of Barb>Ama>Sorc(>Barb repeat) with Ith weapons, Buriza armours and Ocu SoJs.

People are more concerned with clearspeed in PoE because it has actual PvE endgame designed for minmaxed builds. In D2 you had nothing until they added the torch ubers towards the very end of the game's active lifespan.

However, D2 had something very big going for it over any of the other newer RPGs: the PvP scene. If they keep the public game system that allowed for duel games, I'll be playing it again if only to finally make that Ghost 'Sin for PvP.

It's a fine choice for your first HC character. Doesn't need much gear to be tanky and can be leveled alone just fine.

Diablo 2 was fun to play in 1 play-through, but the game had none existent endgame at all and the PvP was so shitty.

It was a fun game but people vastly overrated the game, at least in terms of endgame.

I did because they're fucking fun. Zealot gives your entire party Fanaticism, Wolf Druid gives Oak/HotW to your party and applies Crushing Blow really fast, Berserker has a fuckton of damage that pretty much nothing counters and crowd control (WarCry everything and obliterate it in one hit is easy mode).

I only ever played D2 with a group of friends and having a synergistic composition was plenty of fun, and we didn't have to moan that the loot isn't for us. I would kill myself if I had to play D2 like everyone else did, running Mephisto/Andariel over and over with the same Blizz Sorc. Rather I'd just run different zones depending on the mood with different characters and enjoy the different playstyle and footwork going into them.

You can make a good Barbarian that will clear stuff fast with just a fucking upped Bonesnap.

People made those characters because they wanted to play them, not because they were optimal. No one made those characters to clear things fast and to grind fast. You had better options for that. In a similar fashion, you can play just about anything in PoE but for some reason if it's not a top meta build people will say it doesn't work. It fucking works, it's just not as optimal as some other options.
