It's 20/20, it feels cheap and frustrating in the moment, but if you manage to wipe the team again you have the best feeling in the world.

All things considered, this change is for the better in my opinion. Maybe Blizzard should contemplate introducing an Arcade mode where you can choose presets, for example, when you choose Mercy you can choose to have her old loadout (huge rez), or her new one (one ever 30 sec). It would introduce a whole new layer of depth.

How fast? Super sonic final smash in smash Bros is a pretty apt comparison.

Just for comparison sake. Orissa ultimate is 50% damage boost to her team. That's it.

They need to get rid of more. Confirmed they're getting rid of or nerfing the gun stuff for the ult. I'd say, faster movement isn't needed when you can already dash around with guardian angel from much further and self healing means someone needs spot on tracking to burst you anyways.

The main thing I believe blizzard has underestimated is the power the ult has to get staggered rezs. Before you could get one big Rez so long as everyone died near the same time.

Now you can get a solid 3 Rez out of an ult over the duration of 20 seconds or so. Rez, refresh Rez with ult, Rez again with the lower cool down from ult. I like this because it feels better. You feel like you're doing more compared to the old way of trying to get everyone to die together while you hide. This is a big portion of the ult.

I'd say, keep flight, keep the chaining heal, keep the Rez refresh, keep super self heal. Ditch everything else.

The only reason you saw so much soldier was because he was one of the few main dps worth playing outside of genji and tracer. And recently sombra too is seeing more play, for a lot of different reasons.

Sombra is incredibly viable in comp. Now more than ever. She's very good if you play her with the main idea of destroying all healing for the enemy team. Hacking all the packs, and assassinating the support.

Also really good at killing tanks by hacking them for her team, or other certain characters like hacking Reaper, Mei, Doomfist, Tracer. All good targets for the hack, makes them easy kills for your team. And if by chance they manage to escape you can just chase after them since you see them through walls.

Sombra is really good, she's just really hard to play. But if you do it right you can carry a team with her.

Just play her primarily as the anti-support flanker/support. Don't treat her as a main assassin.

I had an absolute blast playing the ptr, much more than I've had in a while in overwatch. All the changes they made are amazing. Junk, Hog, Orisa, Widow, Dva, Mercy. Every single one of these characters are so much more fun to play as and against and with. This next patch will change the game completely and make it so much more fun.

As for mercy ult specifically it's very fun. It honestly feels like you're activating no-clip, minus the going through walls thing. You just zoom around high up in the air healing people like crazy and rezzing.

The gun is broken in ultmode. Mercy can wipe teams with her fucking gun when she ults now, it's insanely broken. Thankfully they're already taking note and said they'll be changing that, which hopefully just means removing it because her new ult is so overloaded right now. There's way too much going on with it, like I said.

Flight, chain-beam, free rez, and super self-self-healing are more than enough for the ult and they can ditch the movement speed, and gun buff.

I gotta give it to blizzard, at least they are consistent in that every single patch they add to a game lessens the overall enjoyment.

I think you're drastically underestimating how hard it is to hit a character who has complete freedom of movement in the air as well as the ability to dash everywhere.

CAN you hit her? Yeah but it's difficult, basically requires hitscan, and you need to burst her or else her passive will just giggle all your damage off.

Let me start by saying if Mercy is the only hero you can play well, you'd probably be better off playing an actual moba.

Secondly, I love how much people cry about their mains getting nerfed. That's what you get when you play a character/hero that's in the upper tiers. PTR D.Va/Mercy is ten times the combo that Pharmercy ever was. D.Va does more damage than Pharah, is more mobile than Pharah, doesn't die anywhere near as fast as Pharah does, can protect Mercy with matrix, and acts as a massive ult battery for her teams supports.

Yeah mercy is now more noticeable on the field overall. Used to be you only cared if she had rez up. Now as an enemy you always want her dead, and as a team you always want her up.

In general it'll just make mercy more noticeable, especially the shitty ones.

Yeah, very true. Out of all the games I've played on ptr the mercy on my team is always super involved and dashing around getting crucial rez and just in general is around, rather than trying to position herself to where she can hide in the back line and just top people off.

And for the enemy mercy, your always trying to kill her as she zips around with her team as well. Instead of trying to survive the back line long enough to find where she's hiding.

But I do think her ult is way too strong right now, they'll be removing the gun stuff I believe, or at least toning it down. And hopefully they consider not making her move at super sonic speeds. The fact that she can fly around and dash super far and has super self-healing is more than enough survivability during her ult. I think out of like 15 games I've seen an ulted mercy die once, and that was to a junk rat tire that hunted her down.

There will be too much damage boosting in the meta like this

These changes don't make mercy worse. They just make her different. Think of it this way, rez before was something like every minute you could rez your team, as long as they died all together to a teamwipe. That's fine, but honestly you could just have Lucio or zen prevent a team wipe much more effectively anyways.

Now you can prevent someone's death every 30 seconds, staggered out. Hog dies in the middle of a good push? Rez and now you guys don't have to regroup/start falling apart without him.

Plus in the case that multiple people die you can pick up 2 with your ult (rez, ult to refresh rez, rez again), and then probably anyone else who manages to die as you chain heal/damage boost the entire team and fly around.

New mercy is much more effective in the course of the game. She can get more important rezs more frequently, instead of relying on the big 5 man rez just to cuck a team wipe.

Let Lucio and Zen cuck the team wipes, mercy can be an actual medic who consistently picks up the right people at the right times to prevent a domino effect from ever happening due to that persons death.

This mercy change is amazing, and if you think it's a nerf, then you're fucking retarded.

Old mercy cucked team wipes, new mercy prevents them from ever happening.

Most of the time when a team wipe happens or a push fails or the defense has to back off, it's because one too many important people died and now it's 5v6 or a 4v6. If you stay and fight, it's likely that a domino effect happens and slowly but surely everyone else will begin to die. Mercy can now be much more proactive and pick good targets to rez at the right times and do it without fear of wasting an ult on a single target. Instead of running off and hiding and hoping for that domino effect to happen quickly.
