Eh, there's not much in it. Character creation is top notch though.

The character creator and house building elements are wonderful. The loading times are much better than The Sims 3, and the graphics are very nice.

Everything else about it is an enormous step backwards. The emotion system is a fucking joke, and EA advertising it as a huge feature (as if Sims never had emotions before) should have been a red flag to everyone that the game is a shallow mess.

The game feels tiny compared to the Sims 3.
I do appreciate the fact that the game actually runs well and it has a much better artstyle than the Sims 3.

I don't know if they ever fixed this, but what killed the game for me was:

The multitasking made the game worse because they're always changing seats and shit. It's also hard to figure out who they're talking to, to the point where you give less a shit about what your sim is doing making the game less fun.

I didn't even like open world in Sims 3. The way they handle your neighborhood during play in Sims 4 is my favorite take on it, but holy fucking shit the emotion system sucks.

People complain about a lot of different things in Sims 4 but the only thing that really bothers me about it is that the Sims really don't feel like very unique, and it really kills things for me. Also the relationship system being shared between two sims instead of letting them have different opinions of each other.
