What does /v/ think of Petscop?
>>
>>388142149
stupid
>>
>>388142274
Thanks for your input
>>
>>388142149
Neat but will probably be tainted by a cancerous MUH LORE fanbase eventually
>>
>>388142318
you asked what I thought of it and I told you that I thought it was stupid. Don't get mad just because I don't like it
>>
>>388142149
It's dead.
>>
>>388142149
I thought it was interesting, I still want to play it even though I know it's fake & it's a dead ARG that many have lost interest on so stop making threads on it.
>>
Fake and Gay.
I watched some videos with some guys here on /v/, when the channel started, I didn't expect it to become so popular.
>>
The player character looks like a green chode, so I assume that it can't be that bad.
>>
>>388142472
>Fake
why the fuck would you ever think its real?

That it needs to update soonish or all momentum that nightmind gave it is gonna grind to a halt...
>>
>>388142149
>Seriously tries to look like a game from 1997
>Doesn't look like one at all
>>
>>388142646
The lack of updates since 10 has kind of killed it, but since that Game Theory came out I'm not really mourning.
>>
>>388142149
It's dead.
Also, you made this thread yesterday and got only like 5 replies, so why do you keep trying?
>>
>>388142646
that's the point

It gets you really immersed and interested and then ruins the entire thing with the first "lol I censored this part" bit when you realize the creator has no idea what he's doing.
>>
It's about to get fucking murdered.

>>
>>388142814
Sorry to break it to you anon, but sometimes multiple people can enjoy the same thing and try to talk about it multiple times.
>>
>>388142149
the first video is really cool with him showing off the fake game and fake gameplay mechanics, but then he goes into spooky dark world and it becomes identical to every other horror ARG totally devoid of any originality, interesting visuals or scares.
>>
>>388142149
What the fuck is this? a pokemon clone? or some artsy fartsy piece of shit?
>>
>>388142598
I never thought it was real, but I had fun discussion whether it could be a real PS1 game or not, have in mind that was when there was only 2-3 videos. The guy who did seem to understand the PS1 feeling but he screwed up when he changed totally the game style, and this recently >>388142838
>>388142912
I can't believe people it's so retard, uhh so sad and dark, muh candance newmaker case. I'm sick.
>>
>>388143197
How about you read the thread you double nigger
>>
>>388143197
It's a creepypasta
>>
>>388143197
It's a game made by a little company called Garalina in 1997 and 2000. You can find a series of videos on it on Youtube. Enjoy them, we do.
>>
Doing a video LP of a fake game is pretty genius, but yeah people are going to ruin this fast. I feel like it would have been fucking major if it came out like, 10 years ago.
>>
Looks like poopy Eversion.
>>
>>388143065
this. The series would have been better if he just showed of the regular gameplay and maybe had a subtle spooky thing here and there
>>
It's not really that scary really.
>>
>>388142149
Sadly, as it happened with Marble Hornets, pacing killed it.
>>
>>388142838
I was actually pretty interested in the censorship when it first happened because of all of the questions it raised, but now that progress has stalled it's pretty obviously the creator just didn't know what to do. If he had planned it out the censorship could have been a really fascinating device, though.

>>388143310
>I never thought it was real, but I had fun discussion whether it could be a real PS1 game or not, have in mind that was when there was only 2-3 videos.
you could tell it wasn't a real PS1 game because it didn't have any texture warping
>>
>>388143641
Emulators tends to really fuck up texture warping, because it forces to upscale the internal resolution to insane resolutions for a PS1 game, actual hardware doesn't have this problem so often, some emulators like Mednafen runs games at original resolution, there is barely texture glitches.
>>
>>388144235
Not to dunk on the PS1 cause I love the system to death but I play on original hardware with a CRT all the time and texture warping is noticeable. It would have been hard as hell to implement in a fake game like petscop, though, so I don't blame the creator for not trying.
>>
Got stale halfway through.

The creator leaves too much amibigious.

Basing it on a real recent murder is questionable.
>>
>>388145859
I disagree with the first two points, but I agree very much with the last point. With Petscop's fanbase being overrun with bored kids obsessed with ARGs it's just a matter of time before one of the family's relatives start getting weird phone calls.

At least he choose one which wasn't only ridiculously obscure but interesting as well.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candace_Newmaker
>>388146292
In the grand scope of things that's pretty recent.
>>
>>388142149
Atleast it's more neatly done than the copycat where the animations are too smooth and there's shit that's way too good to be PS1 game.
>>
>>388146292
It's recent enough that the convicted parties are still alive today.
>>
>>388142364
It already has. Have you read the comment section on the videos?

People looking way to deep into something that is made for entertainment and has no real answer.
>>
I'm still holding out hope for another episode.
>>
>>388142472

>fake

how long did you need to figure that out?
>>
>>388142838

>the creator has no idea what he's doing

Thousands of people waiting desperately for episode 11. I think its safe to say that the creatow knows what hes doing.
>>
Was disappointing that a interesting looking small game turned into another overdone creepypasta bullshit.

I'm stuck at the windmill part, any help? Playing on emulator.

I think I know who might have made it, it's one of the guys behind Yo! Noid 2: Enter the Void, that game uses the exact same damn shader as Petscop.
>>
RIP my dudes, it had a good run and the Candace theory was dying and then MatFag had to make a video about it, F.
>>
>>388143065
>>388143601
This2. This would've been so good as a pretend LP of a weird ass game nobody ever heard of. In fact this is the aspect I enjoy the most in vidya creepypastas, same with NES Godzilla before it went to shit, those kind of stories should ditch the creepy altogether and embrace the surreal, that's when they're at their best.
>>
>>388146587

Does v like this theory guy? Saw him first time on this petscop vid.
>>
>>388151821

Everything that faggot touches becomes cancer since all of his fucking viewers are 10 years old
>>
>>388142651
It looks like LISA, but that's all I can tell from that single gif.
>>
It sucks. I watched all the videos out of boredom and was never fully alleviated of the aforementioned boredom. I kept wanting something to happen but nothing ever did, and the censorship was retarded as fuck. In fact, the censorship was so fucking stupid that he has no way out of it anymore.

If it's personal information, he over acted and made it sound like it was the worst thing in the world.
If it was child porn, he wouldn't have even uploaded that part.
If it was grotesque images of torture or gore, he wouldn't mind stating as such.
If it was sexual devices that implied the second possibility, he wouldn't have needed to censor them.

The entire thing is stupid as shit and he knows he can't continue the story without a plothole gaping wider than OP's stretched out asshole.
>>
>>388152903
I thought the first censor was ok, but the second one after that was dumb
>>
>>388152903
There should've been just items on the table or whatever that seemed to be rather nondescrible, only to gain meaning later
>>
Newmaker is cute! CUTE!
>>
I think it does the ARG aspect better than something like Concluse. That one tried and failed at replicating a PS1 game when it would have been better off as an old PC game the author finds with stability issues on newer hardware. Then again ARGs are simple and fun entertainment.
>>
I fucking swear if GameTheory extends into ARGs I'm going to be mad as hell.
>>
>>388142149
Ben Drowned 628: electronic boogaloo
>>
>>388151981
Everyone hates that smug faggot. His 10 minute long videos could be shorted to just 2 minutes if he stopped bullshitting jokes and quirky references in between.
>>
>>388142364
It already has, but MatPat sealed its fate for good when he made a GameTheory about it.
Ironically, however, it would be more suited as a Film Theory Video.
>>
>>388155569
>>388156095
redpill me on ARGs
>>
>>388158203
A crazy fucking hobby with some insanely dedicated people into it. I remember one ARG where a guy spent years building up a forum where he samefagged as every member daily following their schedules to set up his ARG. This is a level of autism way beyond that of the common aspie.
>>
>>388158602
I used to do this. It isn't as autistic as people make it out to be since it's like playing with dolls but instead of physical manifestations of the characters, they're profiles.
>>
>>388142149
I think about when the fuck is he going to make art 11.
>>
I just finished watching up to this point.

I don't care if it's an ARG or whatever, I think it's gay retarded bullshit to theorize when there's going to be an most likely dissapointing conclusion eventually. The connection to the real life murder is kinda neat tho. The censoring thing sucks.

I like how the game isn't overtly supernatural and follows rules that are comprehensive enough to actually feel gamey, to a certain extent. The entire PS1 look and sound is fucking flawless. Some of Paul's commentary is a little hokey, especially when he started bringing up ghosts.

It's neat!
>>
>>388159016
>Some of Paul's commentary is a little hokey
that's a dead kid
>>
how does everyone hate the censors?
>>
>>388159096
I thought that part was pretty okay actually. The fact that he doesn't have a panic attack or go "oh my god" every five seconds makes him much more believable than your bog-standard creepypasta protagonist. He's just taking this stuff in.
>>
>>388159483
It sort of ruins the illusion that these are parts of an LP, and also is obviously a way for the author of the work to artificially create mystery.
>>
I like creepypastas but it seems like they boomed a couple of years ago for some reason and after ben drowned it just collapsed.

Does anyone here know some good proper scary creepypastas maybe even a book that is genuinely scary such as a creepypasta is?
>>
>>388159626
Jeff the Killer
Happy Appy
Squidwards Suicide
The Dating Game

oh, wait, you said you wanted scary and not hilariously bad? in that case, no
>>
>>388142912
I'm glad the guy who made petscop posted it on here with like 200 views then it exploded with autism
>>
>>388159626
It's the law of mainstream, the more popular something becomes the more people want to create said thing which opens the flood gates of subpar content, making it harder to find the actually good stuff, leading to a decreased interest by those previously invested in it. It happens to everything.
>>
>>388159795
Yeah they are pretty hit or miss. With only about 1% of them not being written by kids.
