hes probably right whoever he is. Literally every game now seems to involve killing stuff and fucking around in loadout menus. Like the word video game has just become synonymous for "killing stuff simulator" and devs seem oblivious to the pattern they have found themselves in. I've got nothing against violent games or whatever - I've been playing shitloads of blops 2 lately - but devs need to open their minds a little bit and actually think about what they're doing. Not everything has to have swords/guns and convoluted xp bullshit

That's mainly a 'problem' for the blockbuster sort of game. Action and excitement are by far the easiest to mass market. There are plenty of games that are more like he wants, they're just niche or hard to sell to normies. See genres like rhythm, puzzle, visual novels, and sims. Not to mention good indies that don't really fall into a genre. There are even standouts in things like shooters with portal and games that tried to be like it.

No, the popular western games might be but overall there are a fuck ton of games without any of that including entire genres with no killing. It's more accurate to say that games focus too much on different types of physical conflict because it fits real time gameplay very well. Nothing wrong with that.
