I like FE and I like DW games.

But the game, to put it plainly, looks just bad.
Terrible animations, no original gimmicks aside the weapon triangle, boring roster, and the special attacks looks quite excruciating to look at.

At least it got coop.

It would take Camus and Whitewings for me to consider buying it. Camus should be a shoe in, but you never know. Hinoka is shown using what appears to be the triangle attack in her combos, something that neither she nor Cordelia can actually do, and since clones share movesets aside from specials in this game, I hope that implies that the Whitewings are in. Walhart would also be greatly appreciated.

It'll only be good for the porn, and even then, the models will never be Tomb Raider and Nier levels of quality.

As long as Tharja gets in I'll have everything I expected from the roster to be content enough with it. Game needs more modes, though. Doesn't need to be deep. Things like Xtreme/Mercenary mode from the PS2 games or Gauntlet in WO3U were enough to stave off the repetitiveness of replaying the same story stages repeatedly.

Also the gameplay looks fine desu. At least until Hinoka showed up and started janking all over the place with her stiff non-animations. I can only assume this was either an earlier build and she's a late addition, or they literally don't give a single fuck about her and she only made the cut because IS put a stipulation that Fates royals can't be in without their counterpart.

From what I've seen of the gameplay, Raijinto has a weird fire attack instead for some reason. Lightning appears during special attacks, but I never saw anyone use it as a generic attack for range.
Siegfried does seem to have some kind of laser, but I couldn't tell if it was just a combo finisher or what, the people who played scarcely used it.

It's a 3DS game. Hyrule Warriors Legends was a downgraded port, but Fire Emblem Warriors is made with the New 3DS version in mind. It's the opposite and the Switch version is an upscaled port.

The marketing campaign for this game is completely retarded. They revealed Tiki as an amiibo, but months later there's still no sign of her in the game. They've hinted there will be more SD characters (plural), but one month from release and there is still no one besides Marth & the Tiki amiibo. Even the revealed Fates and Awakening characters are the most basic obligatory members of their cast. There is nothing to think other than "well of course they're in". How so?

Looks like map management is way more important than ever in a Musou this time around.

You control multiple commanders and sit them in different bases to capture, worrying about weapon triangle, ambushes and the like hoping they don't die so you can carry them onto the next part in the story.

Sure there's alot of recycled animations among the weapon types but that just means there's more room for them to add more to the roster that we've yet to find out about.

We haven't even seen any familiar villain characters show up yet and there's bound to be some if Hyrule Warriors has anything to say about it.

If the last largest base roster size was in the 30 range, I can bet that this game will definitely top that if they do intend to keep the permadeath rule intact.

I've never played a Musou game and don't know much about the genre, but so far from all that I've seen the moves and animations of the characters look way too similar. They're borderline clones with different skins.
Is that normal for Musou games or is it just this one where that's a problem? Because for me to consider buying the game they either need to add a whole lot more characters, or the characters they do have need to have more distinct movesets.

The mainline Dynasty Warriors franchise has quite a lot of variety with a ton of characters and movesets, and most of the smaller one off games are pretty good in that respect too. Another thing that is horrible about the plot is how they gloss over the issue of Corrin's memory retention.
He only remembers being kidnapped after going all Dragon rage, no memories of his mother or Hoshido family, and he can't even remember Silas at first.

Yet they never bring it up again and if it was Garon that did it to him with some weird magic, but the rest of the game also gives the option that Corrin is just dull as bricks.

Hyrule Warriors could have way more fun varied movesets because of being more entrenched in fantasy and vague magic powers that they could take liberties with and exaggerate.

Weapons in Fire Emblem are closer to boring real life weapons, and most magic is fairly mundane by fantasy standard (Fire ball comes out of red book, electricity comes out of yellow book).
They don't seem willing to take many liberties with this setting. Most special attacks are just "spam generic sword slashes"

Adventure mode was where the repetition really set in, and you had to get A ranks to get most of the prizes which meant taking barely any damage (so extra hearts are worthless items), killing at least 1200 enemies before clearing the map even if you could do it faster, and being done in 15 minutes.
Failing any of those 3 made you lose the A rank, even if you did much better on one of the other criteria than needed.

I liked using Strategist Felicia a lot. People say magic sucks in Fates, but I found it fine, just not as powerful as in previous games.

There are still more characters to come. At the very least there will be more Awakening characters, SD characters, a dragon stone user, and lance armor.

The devs have already confirmed that there would be clone characters for people who share the same class, so the idea that the roster will be 25+ characters is likely.

It looks like shit.

I owned Hyrule Warriors on the Wii, it had great graphics for its setting, and everything was animated. The textures for the environments, the heroes weapons, their attacks, their armor - all of it finely detailed with good weighting. That movie I saw of Camilla fighting on the bridge looks like something from beta, because its no way on par with Hyrule Warriors' delivery. It looks static, rushed, and just lazy. I want to support FE but I'm not comfortable setting the precedent that this is okay.

My Castle was my favourite feature from Fates. I love it when games give you a home base to hang out in. DW7/8 did the same thing and often had you transition into battles directly from base camps, it was awesome.
