I really like Chrono Cross but I still won't say its better than Trigger. I just think its unfair for people to hate Cross. Usually because it isn't a total copy of Trigger.

Why has this become such a meme? The battle theme is fine. I can name tons of battle themes from other RPGs that are far more annoying. For example, the battle theme in FFIX wasn't even as good the first time I heard it. Then after hearing it 2,000 times in super long battles, I wanted to go deaf.

But she's not. The version of Leena you have in your party is a girl who never new Serge but grows to have a crush on him during their time adventuring together. While the 'home' version of Leena, the one who did know you, is a Tsun bitch who deserves to lose Serge to the alternate Leena who appreciates him.

This is called development. It just wasn't taken far enough. They set up an interesting character dynamic, then just forget it because Kid has to get all the focus in the story.

On my last playthrough of Chrono Cross, I counted 42 seperate nods to Chrono Cross. That goes up to 46-47 if you count the music. No idea why people claim the game isn't a legitimate sequel.

That's not even the main battle theme for Chrono Trigger. They're not comparable aside from the same writer composing both. And using that logic, you can claim Magus Battle is better than the main battle theme in both games.
