Nope. The fact that the whole game is RNG makes it so that you're going to get fucked at times with no way to fight back.
>>
>>388131706
Its not like rng can be in your favor aswell

Learning how to mitigate the RNG is how you get better at the video game. Making the decisions that give you the best chance at surviving is the gameplay design. If you're being fucked by RNG it's more than likely because you made at least a dozen bad decisions and decided to keep going instead of abandoning the dungeon that is clearly too difficult for your current party.

THAT OVERCONFIDENCE
>>
ITT: butt hurt op because a game is actually hard and requires thinking and planning ahead.
>>
>>388131949
In the board game world rng is seen like this. If the player makes a decision and then rng happens it's shit like settlers of catan. If rng happens and a player makes a decision based on it, it might be good.

So where does darkest dungeon fall in table top gaming sense?
>>
>>388131706
Life is all rng too but I don't hear you complaining
>>
>>388132184
It's both. You make decisions, RNG happens, and you make more decisions, and more RNG happens, etc. You can't start a dungeon with one simple strategy and expect to survive without improvising and making judgment calls throughout the dungeon.

Players who just start out tend to try and make progress too quickly by sacrificing survivability for heirlooms and gold. This one bad decision to focus on loot early on puts them on a dangerous path and eventually paints them into a corner where they cannot make safe progress anymore and are forced to take risks they're unable to adequately prepare for.

There's very few actual instances in the game where loss of progress is a possibility regardless of how much preparation you take. As with most things, the more you learn about the game the more prepared you are for what CAN happen and you take proper steps to prevent bad shit from happening. The game can definitely be difficult and time consuming, but I find it's less difficult when it consumes more time. People who treat it like any other game end up getting overwhelmed. They should have researched it before they bought it.

It's too easy once you get over the initial hurdle and just becomes boring desu. I hope they make a sequel and make it better but the shitty DLC has me skeptical.

Also best girl.
>>
>>388130639
I would say yes but not because of the RNG of the combat.
Sending randomly generated mooks that gain randomly generated traits into randomly generated dungeon layouts for randomly generated rewards is the shallowest implementation of the concept of this game.
>>
>>388132837
The combat is fun.
>>
>>388131949
>Learning how to mitigate the RNG is how you get better at the video game
If by "learning" you mean "equip shit that breaks the RNG" then yeah, you're right.

Every person that says Darkest Dungeon is good constantly props up the RNG like it's some cerebral mechanic you have to learn how to deal with, when it isn't. It's just there to randomly fuck you or do nothing.

so wait, your telling me that no matter how well your prepare to fight an enemy that you know damn well outnumbers and can easily overpower you will result in you getting fucked sometimes?

wtf i hate darkest dungeon now D:<

IS A SLOW
>>
>>388133318
Not for me. See, I was born before 1992, so I've more than had my fill of slowly walking circles around braindead enemies and watching them be completely unable to hit me in games like DOOM and Quake.

And this isn't even mentioning the complete lack of impact in Souls combat. You want fun combat? Try DMC. Try MonHun. Try fucking Kingdoms of Amalur. Amalur sucks, but even that game understood the importance of hitstop and visual feedback.

When you prepare for the RNG yes, the bad RNG does not affect you. That's the point of preparing for it.

No? It has no hitstop (save for literally one or two boss types for some reason) so your weapons go through enemies like air, some enemy types have no visual effects other than a number popping up when you hit them, and they barely even react to being hit in the first place.

Souls combat is terribly unsatisfying. Once again, if you want satisfying combat, try MonHun.

They don't. Dark Souls combat feels weighty, DMC is just anime flailing.
