If the SFM is neat and the PC version is moddeable to the point where some real action combat developers and animators, world and level designers and quest crafters can get in there and fix all the horrible shit wrong with the game then it might just help fill the hole that Tabata and Squares incompetency helped to rip into.

The DOA devs have been fighting an uphill battle on nude mods for years. Itagaki himself personally sued (and WON) against two guys who made Kasumi naked on Xbox, saying it insulted her dignity as a character and some other crazy shit. They had to pay him like $20,000 in the end.

Here's the secret: in Japan, you can be individually charged for EVERY line of code you alter when you mod a game.

This is part of the reason Project M devs scattered to the winds for so long, someone tipped them off that Nintendo and interested parties involved with Smash could (and supposedly were planning to) take them to court. In which case they'd be charged for each line of code altered, which in something like PM, adds up astronomically fast.

PM devs claimed that their freedom up to and even during marketing for Smash4, had been dependent on them never patching newcomers into PM. Around the time the Knuckles mii outfit was revealed, PM suddenly dispersed with some weak excuses about focusing on Wavedash.

There is a reason that piracy in Japan is *very* underground and not even a fraction as common or openly talked about as here in the West.
