It's already dead, they just killed any hype by doing early access on steam for $10+ (prices will increase as time goes on). The only people playing it are the beta/alpha testers that got the game for free. Only ~10 people have ever played in p v p matches in the entire uptime of the game. Game is dead in KR and you can tell Nexon abandoned HU because it's on fucking steam. Simple cashgrab, don't fall for it anons.

Anyway, I'm in one of the unsupported regions. Good way to start killing your game before it even is out is having a list like that. Not that I was ever going to play it, though.

Refund it and play it when it actually officially launches for free (which it never will because lack of interest). It's DOA, no point in shelling out dosh for it. No you start with a basic few, some of which I'd say are really good. Realistically you only need 2 characters of your own choice in case your main gets picked and not the whole 24. If you're losing a lot then your item choice/character might not suit you. Try a different character, training mode exists so you can test out all the characters.

If you're having a lot of trouble with item choice, try using pic related and fill up the rest of the slots with your character exclusives or whatever else. But honestly, it's not worth the money at all. If anything, do a refund and wait a week or two and see how many people are playing before buying it again. If the game takes off with a lot of players then you're good, if not then you've saved yourself some money.
