I have, gonna bump the thread once so i have enough time to type.
>>
>>388117739
So, first of all, it encompasses all of the time periods of prime universe trek, all races are replaced by trek races, ships are expensive as fuck, or at least anything bigger than a frigate is.
But then again they are beefy as fuck, being able to solo some regular shit like pirate fleets and such.
Over the time as you research more stuff your ship designs change and you can then upgrade your ships not only with new tech but with new hull altogether.

Other than that, it feels pretty same to the base game.
>>
>>388119197
kind of a shame. what I want from Stellaris/Star Trek mod is more writing
>>
>>388117907
It's not bad, has Talaxians so I love it.

But holy fuck the research is all over the place, it's disgusting.
>>

>>
>>388119346
Well there is a load more of reading.
Also at least while i was playing as feddie i got a mission that i think was straight from Enterprise story.
Basically i had to first fight off a xindi doomsday weapon, then i had to go and search it and that happened through text walls and multi choice bits.

Also some more text based quests for explorers.
Stuff like getting replaced with mirror crew, spotting some odd alien ship that flees you when you come around and such.

oh that's nice, I could like that. I'm enjoying base game Stellaris a bit but after a while it's just an impersonal sandbox. what quests there are are well done imo but there aren't that many.

what's the mod called?

How is Star Trek Online nowadays? Do you miss out on a lot if you don't pay for shit?

Star trek online.
This is just something we have been building for almost 4 years now.
Possibly longer.

>>388120057
All playable content is free, you can do queues as many times as you want without paying, your last free ship is tier 4 ship which is good enough to carry you over till the next big event.
There are 3 yearly events in which you can get a tier 6 ship which is the end game ship.
You can use dilithium which you grind and refine in regular game to exchange for Zen which you can use to buy money shop stuff.
Personally i recommend getting the Energy credit cap remover, that is pretty much the only game limiting thing there is.
Beyond that you can buy stuff like zen store ships, outfits, ship slots, captain slots, crew slots and all other sorts of slots, as well as fleet keys and fleet modules which you need if you want to get a fleet ship, although those and keys can also be found on the in game exchange where folks use energy credits.

>>
>>388120463

Well, shit. Guess I'll give it a try again, I played it back in 2010 when it still used a monthly fee.

I wants me some Trek action.
>>
>>388120694
Well go ahead, nobody is telling you not to talk about armada.
btw, have you tried armada 3?
>>
>>388120817
Just remember, there's 4 races to pick from now and they all have their own tutorial and story arcs, until their story arcs merge.
With the big three (feds, rom, klinks) it happens somewhere around Nimbus 3 missions, while with the TOS feddie character it happens after you finish the 5 or so mission long tutorial on that character.
>>
>>388120891
>armada 3
the mod for sins? nah, i 'm burned out on sins. the star bases and titans ruined it for me and turned it into a huge grind. is there an equivalent to that for armada 3?

guess regarding the armada games, i've always wondered if trek autists found it annoying that they put the borg cube and enterprise e on the same level. how does armada 3 handle relative ship strengths?

Well, ships like sovereign class, galaxy class and ambassador class are counted as capitol ships, smaller ships like excelssiors, akiras, defiants and miranda class count as frigates and cruisers.
As for the titan, feddies get to choose between two OhCee class ships from Donut steel fleet yards.
Pretty much same goes for other races with the borg cubes being their version of capitol ships and their titan being a unimatrix, aka that ship the living machines built around V'ger.

Borg are pretty overpowered in this game and unless you manage to curb stomp them in early game, you need not only your own fleet at 100% fleet cap, but also a second players 100% cap fleet in order to fight the borg off.
>>
>>388122107
why are borg so op? just because of their stats or something to do with mechanics ?
>>

>>388122405
Well they ultimately get faster FTL drives, higher shield cap and higher shield regen, also the cubes come with a assimilation beam, same with assimilator class ships.
How it works is this, you use the beam on a ship, blow that ship up and then it comes back borgified and under borg control.

And if you think that's bad you should see what fleed does on Halo mod, it's like that but far worse.
>>
>>388122617
and is the ai good at taking advantage of this? similarly, can the ai be an effective ally to you if you're fighting the borgos?
>>
>>388117203
https://youtu.be/IQ6frFkKZYs
>>
>>388122809
The borg AI sets it on autocast, so yes it can use it effectively.
As for allies, well they will be doing their thing which either makes the borg divert their fleet and gives you a good chance to strike at their rear, thus weakening them as a whole, or you could try to move your fleet with the AI ally fleet to strike at the borg together.

Yes, you can build two different types of them.
One is a runty outpost and the other is basically Earth space dock.
They are pretty buff and can be upgraded similarly to the regular sins ones.
Also the different races got different ones, with the borg one bieng some sorta unicomplex if i remember right. The cardies get the DS9 looking ones.
Also, if you ally with any klingons and/or romulans you then unlock some sorta other type of space station that is buffer version of the regular one.
Also strike craft start off with danube runabouts and those weird starfighters they had in DS9.
You can later upgrade them (see, replace them) with valkyrie class fighters and bombers that were in some old PS1 trek game.

Also the Cardassians are a two-in-one faction. About a third of the way into a game, you have to research some diplomatic tech to get access to the higher levels of their tech tree. You can either go for "Dominion Alliance," which'll give you some basic Cardassian ships and stations, along with a bunch of better Dominion and Breen ones (with summonable Son'a ships), or "Cardassian Loyalist," which just gives you pure strain Cardassian tech. According to the devs, they did it that way because Sins gets antsy when you add more factions, and because it saved them time by not having to build a fully-fledged Dominion faction from scratch. Truth be told, making Cardassian and Dominion stuff for a mod must be a bitch. Outside the shows, your only real sources for noncanon Cardassian designs are Birth of the Federation, Armada 2, and Dominion Wars, the latter of which is your only source for Dominion designs.

The federation whips out the cloaking device and stuffs it on theor overgunned murderships when the situation calls for it.

It's just one of the stipulations in the Treaty of Algeron. The Federation loves to bend over backwards to uphold treaties.
>>
>>388129610

They signed a treaty for it, mostly because Roddenberry didn't want his heroes sneaking around like bad guys.
>>
Why did a series with so much brand recognition amongst geeks not get more vidya
>>
>>388129610
muh peace treaty

It's not like we'll ever get any continuation of the original timeline but after Nemesis and the first Abrams movie royally buttfucking the Romulan government there's no reason not to slap a cloaking device on every Federation ship.
>>
>>388129887
but cloaking devices are the subs in "Space is an Ocean"
it's not like the only subs in WWII were U-boats
>>
>>388129958
The Federation is an organization dedicated to peaceful exploration and all their ships reflect that. The only dedicated warship they ever made was the Defiant.

The only time you reasonably need cloaking capabilities is if you're in open conflict with someone or trying to spy on them. The Federation is still perfectly capable of winning wars against people using cloaking technology and their regular methods of espionage work out well enough to keep them safe.

They just don't need cloaking devices on their ships
>>
>>388130130

Maybe so, but Roddenberry was weird.
>>
>>388129610
Because cloaking devices are actually a shit-ton more hassle than they're worth considering the Federation can effortlessly fuck up a cloak whenever they want to. The Romulans wanted to keep the cloak to save face and the Federation has no value in it.
