actually i like having a 40 inch 1080p screen and good graphics card since they are affordable now. i have money from being disabled and ive had enough good girlfriends who turned horrible to know not to worry about relationships other than acquaintances, some family and business and just stick with my dog going for nice park walks. everything is affordable thanks to sales and i can demo games by pirating if they dont have a demo which is usually.

Mount and Blade: Warband had a good demo, that demo was better than most full games I'd played so of course I bought the full game in no time. I hope Bannerlord is good.

The problem is an unwillingness to evolve on the part of developers. Video games are right now a medium unwilling to move forward and develop in the ways other media do over time. Instead gamers would rather bitch about graphics and 4K and console wars, we continue to worship really shitty games with zero real creativity or inherent worth like PUBG and Overwatch.

The fact that there is no vidya equivalent to something like art house right now is disturbing, it bothers me that any attempt to push the medium forward in a truly meaningful direction is met with scorn, call me pretentious if you want, but I want the medium I love so much to push boundaries and become something respectable eventually, Super Mario Galaxy is great fun but it is nothing more than a literal toy, it is on the same level as a capeshit flick.

Things that push videogames forward as an artform is depth of mechanics. The leap from 2D to 3D was a great move forward because it enabled completely unparalleled new ways to interact. I agree that videogames need another leap forward, but it needs to come in a way that will enable new ways to play, not better cutscenes or sequences that "rly mak u think"

Definitely not, shit like Heavy Rain is the exact wrong direction to take things, video games are not movies and they should never be movies. I honestly don't think I'm a smart or creative enough person to be able to lay out a new and meaningful paradigm here in a post, but what we must stop doing as players is worshipping shit, stop obsessing over technicalities and graphics, stop obsessing over hardware, the only way we can move forward if if we as a whole cultivate some taste and learn to identify and criticize garbage instead of consume it because it is all that is available. Only when we begin to better appreciate quality will developers start to have to actually give a fuck about what they produce.
