It doesn't. What content exists in the game is actually great, the problem is that the game is too limited with the roleplaying options and the ending is abrupt as fuck. This game LITERALLY needs more content and then it will be unarguably great, possibly on the level of PoE, which was amazing.

Will they rewrite the dialogue so that the characters don't all sound like showboating high school theater nerds? And fix the combat so that you don't have to watch your characters do nothing while the obtrusive cool down timer runs to zero?

It doesn't. It's not perfect, but as a RPG it's better than any other babby's first RPG on the market like DOS or Witcher 3.

In The Quest, some people won't even talk to you based on your race and there are multiple solutions to certain quests.

It's the type of game where you stumble into things. I got about 28 hours out of the main campaign and I think 6-8 hrs out of the DLC

Have nothing to do with roleplaying unless they depend on how you've built your character. Picrelated is what a good RPG looks like and Tyranny has many quests and dialogues where your stat unlock or deprive you of certain options.

It's a solo character RPG - it kind of reminds me of Fallout 1 or 2 in that way where it's you against the world and having to solve situations through choices, combat or puzzle solving.

This might be totally off base, but the game looks like if Morrowind-era Bethesda designed a Might and Magic game with the art direction of Monolith-era Blood. I think I'll give it a go.
