Is it really though? DR4 is as casual as DR can get, yet it still heavily under performed for Crapcom. There's also absolutely no way the DR1/2 formula will do well in today's market. The low sales (because it would only appeal to a niche market) wouldn't be worth the development cost. Personally I don't really care - DR1 and Off the Record are enough for me.

Dead Rising 1 is Capcom's best written game. It's got spills, it's got chills (that moment with Brad trapped in the tunnels spooks my guts), villains like Carlos and Cliff aren't assholes, it has multiple endings, a tight as fuck time limit that rewards replayability and great bosses like Kent.

Oh and its brilliant save system everyone bitched about so much that trash like DR2 OTR made sure to add checkpoints.

What would be the point of that? It's not like save states in an emulator, developers adding check points is programmed within the game by the devs to be used by people playing it.

Except I was doing all that in OTR as much as I was in 1 because checkpoints aren't entirely reliable. Sometimes you gimp yourself enough that a checkpoint doesn't help, so you have to reload a save. See? It literally plays the same, and at worst save you from minor tedium

I just finished DR1 for the first time and it was marvelous. I really digged a lot of the characters and the open landscape of the mall, plus the tension added with the timer reminded me of Majora's Mask.

I can't enjoy DR1 because of save system and a tight timer, but that's my problem. I just really don't like timers.
Devs should not pander to me by removing those features completely, but instead they should consider making an additional casual mode that will only give you a bad ending. Problem solved for casual slow cunts like me who can't operate under pressure and original difficulty didn't go anywhere.

Remember though: EA has tons of multi-million selling franchises, Modern Capcom? Not so much.

EA could afford to kill a franchise like Mass Effect, if Capcom owned Mass Effect I doubt the same would apply.

If dead rising 5 flops im giving up on this series, 1 and 2 were great and easy to replicate. Just give me something more akin to those games and make the animations and graphics look nice, its not that difficult.
