ITT: the biggest wastes of potential you can think of
>>
>>388071848
The end game was so fucking boring at launch. I have no idea how it is now but I actually enjoyed going through the story up till level 30 but I lost interest pretty quickly after I got to end game.
>>

So you know the kike corporation is going to, not just track you, but record every moment of your life.

I hope someone opensources a good replacement. It had potential, it wasn't just a stupid goofy idea.
>>
>>388071992
Why the fuck did they have to try and ape Destiny instead of just being a proper survival game? Then they tried to add the survival mode later but it was too little too late.

The mechanics would make a pretty good game if not for all the numbers-based bullet sponge bullshit and all the mother fucking grind.
>>
>>388072161
I think what bothered me the most is the advertising almost felt deceptive. I went into it expecting it to be like an MMO with other players running around but that didn't exit besides the dark zone, in groups, or in the safe houses.
>>
Ruined by dumb dev decisions, overly ambitious ideas and soe wasting time and money on the escort meme

My biggest problem is they refuse to finish the story.

I don't give a fuck about pvp, I bought this for the PvE.

We could have hand World in Conflict II, or another Ground Control. But no, Ubisoft put them to work on this.
>>
The areas to explore were pretty cool, but the voice acting fell flat and the combat was stale and repetitive. The romances were kinda.. subpar and cliche, the were lots of visual bugs and environment glitches missing walls and clipping, and falling through the floor or being catapulted into the air because you jumped on a piece of wood you weren't supposed to... The walking animations for cutscenes for a female inquisitor was just the male's reused, and I'm pretty sure they reused the mage combat poses from 2.That being said I did enjoy it the first playthrough, mostly because I saw it through rose colored glasses. The second time is when I really started noticing the bs. I have no idea how this game won GOTY and has such high ratings. It honestly was just mediocre.

Holy shit if TW wasn't so god damn lazy this could actually be a good game, but mowing down a bunch of zeds with the same boring ass weapons that are over detailed gets real old real fast. Especially when only 4 of the classes are viable.

Shootan lootan games overall fail to deliver
Warframe and Borderlands also comes to mind
>>
>>388071848
Maybe it's because I got it on sale for like $10 bucks instead of like $60 but I've been having fun with it so far. Then again though, I've only been playing it in short bursts and I'd imagine if I tried to play it for hours at a time it'd get old really fast.

They really need to drop the price though. It's been a whole fucking year since release. There's no excuse for it to still cost full price.
>>
>>388071992
Its headed in the right direction now but as most have said its a little too late. With that being said there still are alot of us who play. Hoping 1.8 patch has the narrative content they promised.
>>
>>388076139
It came out over a year ago you dingus. And no, it fucking sucks. The atmosphere is nice, and the controls and everything are solid, but the gameplay is all based on how big your numbers are and every enemy is a bullet sponge in the strongest sense of the term.
>>
Armored Warfare.

Shame it was a better game than Wot.
>>
>>
>>388076259
Warframe definitely has potential to be good, everything is in place for it to be good, but DE is honestly one of the most incompetent and out of touch devs I have ever seen. It's like they have no idea what fun is, and seem to actively enjoy shitting on the community
>>
>>388076358
I'm surprised it still has as many players as it does. The fact that every time I got on a new patch completely changed the way everything worked and made my previous build useless was pretty fucking annoying, and to me it just said they had no idea what the fuck they wanted the game to be and just kept making shit up as they went.

Survival being shitty was the final nail in the coffin for me.

I never watched the trailers except for part of the E3 gameplay presentation which I couldn't even finish because the "seerus tacticul gaymer acting" annoyed the shit out of me but it's alright. I wouldn't consider it GOTY or worth $50-$60 or shit like that but worth pirating it or if it's on sale for $10 or less.

Boss fights can be annoying as fuck too. I'm still early in the campaign, i.e. I just finished getting the heads for the base of operation wings but they generally just seem to be bullet sponge enemies that hit stupidly hard and force you to rely on typical cover based peekaboo tactics.

The flame thrower boss for the tech wing guy's mission was pretty intense though and actually required you to stay on the move instead of just hiding behind a chest high wall occasionally poking your head up to shoot.

It could have been good, even great. But the combination sickness of e-sports, loot and MOBA-fellating dug its claws deep and carved every bit of potential fun out.

I assumed the division was going to be a open worldish MMO with tactical realistic gameplay. something similar to arma.
I was so wrong.
>>
>>388077332
Same bro, same.

I don't know why it wasn't, all the gameplay and cover mechanics and shit seem set up perfectly for a proper tactical shooter/survival type game, but we got some MMO looter shooter grind-a-thon abortion instead.
>>
>>388077332

This is actually the biggest waste I can think of. They had some of the best assets and one of the most advanced engines I've ever played on. They opted into a shit story which made the whole game seem wholly unrealistic since you're banging out other humans but they take a dozen mags to down. Then you compound every issue a thousand fold with bad mechanics from movement in combat to build mechanics to freely alterable skills and impermanent stats which all face diminishing returns, meanwhile the skill system is incredibly boring.

Between the engine, the assets, the development time they could've made a way better game:
The story was just boring as fuck, bang out some rebels, some gangsters, some puritans cause the infection, yo.
Build mechanics were lacking and you could easily swap builds in between which made character commitments a non-issue.
There was zero depth in the system
PvP balance was either shit or there were a lot of hackers, likely both from what I understand.
Endgame was shit, and they never really flushed it out from what I can tell which is why I haven't played the DLC
The majority of the content is behind a paywall
The beta was 30+% of the whole game, meaning that as a beta participant I got fucked since I already played a hefty fraction of the game

Man... I remember being reaaally little watching my big sister play Starsiege on near empty servers... we'd run until the map ended and then we'd fall through the floor, idk why it was the funniest thing for a 5 year old. The game was so dead we'd cross the entire map and just hang out with the only enemy on the server. What happened to this series?

i'm still pissed about the splinter cell franchise
>>
>>388078040
They should've copied ARPGs and forced classes and skills, forced retention and maintenance of stats and deepened their meaning. There should've been more skill variety and more weapons with variable stats with perks that weren't stat-locked so you had to grind ad infinitum just to get a piece of gear that was compatible with your build nine times over. Trading should've been a thing. High enemy count, good AI, and dozens of waves to force strategy and conservation while being able to act as a DPS/armor/skill check instead of 20 thousand million HP enemies with one-hit shotguns times five. Better PvP mechanics so you weren't instantly tagged, put a tracker on one piece of equipment per teammate, force them to juggle the risk/reward of potentially dying for choosing the wrong item.

they fucked up by assuming everyone would play in the dark zone. an imbalanced mess of pvp that rewards groups of 4 that play well together, while punishing anyone that attempts to go at it solo.

if the division launched with underground content, maybe it wouldn't have tanked so bad. but designing your entire end game around gank-style pvp, with a few sloppy "raids", was just a bad idea.

I still think they should've gone f2p and opened a cosmetic shop. oh well.

Agreed. I had a lot of fun with and loved the combat. The biggest fault in combat was the dumb choice of magic hurting your own party members. And for an FF game the story did feel a bit hollow. But I thought the main cast was great and I loved hanging with the chocobros. The ending campfire scene was well acted.

it's because you didn't have to do a massive grind in GTA4 to have fun. GTA5 should've had GTAO and then a default free roam mode on the side with weapon and vehicle spawns on the map, like GTA4.
>>
>>388079409
You just sort of know.
>>
>>388079476
Yes, and historically speaking they almost always overstay their welcome and their audience eventually ends up more bitter than fond of the product. Inevitable? Sure. Still Depressing? Absolutely. And FFXV's not even that good to begin with. Again, mirroring FFXIII
>>
>>388079409
At least Destiny has a sort of unique aesthetic/visual-style to it. Anthem just looks like a Sci-Fi skin grafted onto yet another Frostbite game. High fidelity graphics, yet lacks any charm or personality.
>>
>>388072709
>I don't give a fuck about pvp, I bought this for the PvE.
Someone in charge of the game envisioned it as a PvPfest that gets streamed all over Twitch regularly. What they later found out was like half of their fanbase never touched the Dark Zone. By then, it was too late to do anything about it.
