i liked xenogear's combat.

The only real problem I had with it is that aside from maybe one or two characters, you will have to do some serious grinding to get all the elemental deathblows.

Last time I beat the game, only Citan had all his, not even Fei did. And elemental deathblows are basically useless anyway since theres only like 1 or 2 actual bosses on foot in disk 2.

Along the same lines, all the gear in that bonus desert dungeon is completely useless because you've already fought the last mandatory on foot battle by the time you can even access it.

Though that all can presumably be blamed on the budget basically running out by the time they reached disk 2.


Emeralda had the same issue with her dungeon, but at least you also get plot progression out of it too, so its not quite so bad.

Really the story itself is fine for the most part, its just how it was delivered that was odd.

It does become a looot more story heavy though, with just some dungeons here and there to break up the story telling.

Hell, there are a few moments where you can clearly see a dungeon was planned, but they just tell what happens in the dungeon instead.
