This game fucking sucks too. The big problem with Heroes is that the controls and physics were shit, too slippery and janky. You couldn't use the homing attack or grind on rails without getting nervous that you'll fall into the bottomless pit, because of how imprecise the controls were.

SA2 had pretty decent controls so I don't know why Sega fucked it up for Heroes, Shadow, and 06.

I still think Shadow had the best CGI in the series. Unleashed is pretty close but there's something about Shadow that does it for me.

I actually 100%ed this game when I was younger somehow. Got all the keys, A ranked everything and used to run Hard mode when I got bored. Some stages are fun, but FUCK the enemy killing missions.
Also I still own the Prima guide that lists all 300+ Story path titles. God you can make a emo band name with just about any of them.

To be fair, I'm sure Shadow suffered some pretty serious brain damage after Adventure 2, he wakes up in an Eggman pod in Heroes and Omega immediately tries to kill him because he thinks Eggman made him. Eggman just saw the opportunity to go "YES, I MADE YOU, OBEY ME" and figured if that didn't work it wasn't exactly something he planned for anyway so he wasn't losing out. Sure, Rogue could've told him the whole story about Maria and tried to jog his memory, but maybe she didn't believe it either.

Now imagine if this game was it's own thing, nothing to do with Sonic at all. Replace Shadow with a government experiment with alien DNA who forgets everything and change some of the Eggman parts. Improve the gameplay and I reckon it could've been good. I loved the Black Alien designs, especially the worm.
