While I thought some of the additions to Crystal were neat (Animations, better colors on the GBC, playing as Kris, the stuff with Suicune), it was the weakest re-release in Pokemon for me.

In terms of sequels, they are far and away the best in the series. They added a fuckton to the formula, such as cool shit like day/night and the phone, and even included the entire previous game world. No game since has come close to adding as much to the franchise, and in fact I think GS are the only games that didn't REMOVE features from the previous gen.

That being said, >>388036962 might beat it out. A sequel that improves on literally everything from the last game, including a huge jump in graphics. Guess which you prefer is more a matter of taste, but those are probably the only 2 that stand out so much.
