It's an exclusive, which always get more attention and love, and they went full pretentious with the cutscenes. To the point that they even performed them in a theatre, on stage.

Bioshock Infinite also has a bit of this, where everyone pretends it's really deep and profound because that's how the game was marketed.

Gave them a break for about three months. Any change in edited work or at least progress to a studio? nothing specific, but things like when they first tried in group streams to only so the song at set points once as a collective thanks, they blamed Blood, them just said this was stupid then went back to normal.

>>388047507
That's because of all of them, Blood's the one that realises the most that it's a job not simply pals hanging out. As such he's always the most professional. It's why even at GT there's the running gag about them proposing giving a game an undeserved 10/10 just to see Blood's mind break.
Plus things like the last podcast where he revealed he made it his buisness to review Sonic Boom because the parent's had to know to avoid buying such a broken game for their kids.

>>388048649
I don't think it was politics specifically, but Ian did point out him and Blood have had pretty heated arguements in the past over stuff as Ian was talking about how you can not agree with someone on such and such (politics was an example) and still be friends.

>>388048905
At GT all the stuff that actually evolved around money and an office space landed on Viacom/Defy's hands. If they wanted something, you made a request to the people upstairs and they either turned it down or got it for you. Same as any office job. The monkeys aren't privy to most the buisness dealings.
Brandon said once in a Q&A that if they ever got another ally, he wanted to get someone who knew how to sort out finances and stuff because they haven't had the experiance to deal with it as well as he's like.
>>
>>388049421

I'd find it hard to get to watch them. They're enjoyable, but they're 2 and half odd hours long. Too long to go out of my way to make sure I see them. Yes, Frame Trap and alike are usually that long(er), but they have the benefit of I can listen to those while playing a game or something, where I can focus in and out whenever. With Fiasconauts I know I'd miss important plot points when doing other things while it's on.
Not it's fault to be honest. It shouldn't be massively shorter or anything. It's just hard for me personally to put aside that much undisturbed time for 4 dudes doing improv
>>

there are that long but like a good one hour of them are the prep time and them discussing motives and character creation, stuff you can skip.

Not usually, most of the time characters die or the event concludes. How you DM is a bit different when you have an audience of a couple thousand though, don't wanna kill people too quick before characters get fully fleshed out and he set up a whole world he wants to delve into.

I see a lot of shit for tabletop regarding the story but personally I have never listened to it for the story, but for huber and Bosman ruling over ben and taking full control of everything. Yogala and law/pomper can carry a whole episode jus on what they say or do to anything going on. Fames intro was also hilarious. Story may be a big bag of dicks and they may never really run into trouble but Bosman and huber keep it consistently funny with brad pulling some good lines every now and then
>>
>>388059529
Don't know about as DM as such, it is in essence a very casual friendly style they're doing after all. But very VERY much with his note taking. It's flat out disgraceful the amount of times he flat out forgets who did/had what and such. Even with things that happened in that very episode. Not even "only nerds in the comments notice" type of way either. People could start a drinking game where Ben himself points out he's outright forgotten something, causing a plot/battle mess up. Ian's not even dm but does a better job (often correcting/infroming) of keeping notes than Ben.
It's really pisses me off when he starts an episode saying he was listening to make sure he knew where everyone/thing is at as a bloody segway into him saying he doesn't remember about x and can one of the others tell him.

It's always right after these threads. I don't know why people still like this guy.
>>
I had to completely stop following these clowns. All their shows and podcasts are so boring.
>>
>>388059320
I'm aware, but that's not fiasconauts

How ben has to write his characters changes based on what's required of him, what's required of him in tabletop escapades is constant railroading and hand holding, limiting his characters.
>>
>>388063303
Same
I only really listen to their podcast and TTE, tho TTE has been getting worse and worse
>>
Their GT days were better.
>>
>>388065565
Yep, much better.

Kyle is being a contrarian bitch again by picking SOTC as his bust.
>>
>>388064042
>TTE has been getting worse and worse
I remember when Kyle said he wasn't going to make a new character because the they were getting close to the end of the dragons' story and it would be pointless/disrespectful to force new character in just for a few episodes. I was nodding respectfully at his decision and was thankful we were reaching the end. Looking forward to maybe a Cowboy or Steampunk D&D afterwards. You know, really keep things fresh.
Then the others kept talking and then I realised Kyle really did mean end of the dragons' story arc but not the end of playing in that fantasy universe. I audibly groaned.
It was fine for the dragon story, but there is ZERO reason for Ben to keep that game running after that. Especially if you want to eventually get NEW people watching. A year give or take, for each game is plenty. As much as it's "just friends messing around" sort of thing, it's still done in order to get people to watch and make money off of. If I was new to the Aliies and I see Tabletop episode #231, I'm not going to bother watching it.
But if I see something like Tabletop S2E9, possibly with a new thumnail colour to help point out this is different from season 1. Then I might acutally check it out and go back to try watching it from the start. Nobody (willingly) went and bought tickets to see Deathly Hallows part 2 if they hadn't seen the other Harry Potter movies.
>>
>>388062950
he brought xenoblade chronicles for hall of the greats. that's got to be worth something.

it meant a lot to me
>>
>>388058661
When Ian inevitably decides he's a woman, the tension between him and Blood will be too intense to watch.

I don't care for Ben. The "eloquent" meme is just a nice way of saying he takes ages to get out a sentence. Plus he gushes over JRPGs all the fucking time.

Damiani, Ben, and Bloodworth just aren't very pleasant to hear speak.
>>
>>388066568
actually ben is one of the allies who orchestrates his opinions the best. in fact, i would say he comes second to only kyle in that department. he is able to explain why he feels the way he feels most of the time -- even though i agree he can end up being a bit verbose. but compare how much you understand ben's points in yesterday's hall of greats compared to ian's "sotn is just so good, like ugh...just like...ugh so good...ugh...damn it's good".
>>
this gitaroo stream pretty great, anyone watching?

how many tries will it take for this level?
>>
I like Huber but he's still a bit of spastic and can't think critically to save his life. I like it when they stream but the easy livin style streams. Where it was just jones and huber, max jolliness. Hate that most of their streams are alone.
>>
>>388042690
Ian looks so good as just a normal dude too. Why did he worship elyse? She's a 7/10 at best.
>>
>>388067184
she's pretty funny, and some people are attracted to personality as well. she seems like a really chill girl, i honestly cannot blame ian for that one.
>>
>>388066748
Maybe Ben communicates his thoughts better, but he speaks in a very choppy and disjointed way. It's bad for podcasts.
>>
>>388067184
Elyse is really cute and is actually hilarious, she is legit waifu material. She is the reason mandatory update was as good as it was
>>
>>388066453
I'll give you that. I was sure he was gonna bitch out, but he ended up finishing it on stream and gave it props.
>>
>>388067496
>i was sure he was gonna bitch out
me too actually, i was surprised he stuck with it. watching him fall in love with the game was legitimately a treat.

>>388067423
yea i can see that. he definitely thinks a lot about what he is about to say. the positives of that are that he doesn't ian shit up and say either flagrantly false things or nonsense garble. however, the negatives are as you said. i do enjoy listening to him immensely more than some of the less coherent allies though. of course overall i'd rather listen to jones or kyle or even huber or blood most of the time.

i do love brad but he also can't speak for shit
>>
>>388058884
He really shouldn't. His reviews are by far the worst.
>>
I like how half the comments in this thread are spoilered because you're all ashamed to be gossiping like teenage girls about grown men playing with toys.

>>
>>388066453
>he brought xenoblade chronicles for hall of the greats
And then barely gave it any points himself. His pitch and defence was also the best by far.

I guess he should save it until the usual suspects are in. Might have an actual chance then.
>>
>>388067184
Elyse is that level of partner tier wife rather than prize or desperation tier.
Yes, prize tier is hotter, but not much fun to be around. Desperation tier might possibly be a cool chick, but even you don't find her all that hot.

>>388067335
>I honestly cannot blame ian for that one.
That is the general consensus. It's how he's handled things we call out. Especially his gradual downfall after she left GT.
>>
>>388068358
this is the most retarded post I've seen in a while
>>
>>388068476
that is a very good point, i was borderline insulted by that. of course it's hard to go up against literal genre-defining games but i do think that in a lot of ways xenoblade goes toe to toe with some of the greatest. too bad he didn't feel the same.
>>
>>388068583
Then just ignore the bait

>>388067496
>he ended up finishing it on stream and gave it props
He even had the balls to say he liked it more than Persona 5. Pretty big props considering he gave that overrated game the full 5 stars.

Was fun to see the chat freak out over that though. They've got a lot of underage fanboys in there. The amount of butthurt at Zelda OoT making it into the HoG was ridiculous. You must be the biggest retarded fanboy to claim that game doesn't belong in there.
>>
>>388068887
LttP means a lot more to me than OoT but hey, you do you.
>>
>>388068887
i was surprised by the number of kids in chat campaigning against OoT. when you're younger than a certain age, i guess you don't understand exactly what OoT did.

i think xenoblade deserved it more than sotn tho.
>>
>>388069032
OoT means a lot more to a lot more people than LttP but hey, you do you.
>>
>>388068887
Not surprising. Xenoblade was slow, but the payoff was worth it. In comparison, Persona 5 was a 90-hour descent with a weak ending.
>>
>>388068476
>His pitch and defence was also the best by far.
Only Kyle seems to care about the quality of the pitch. He actually have an extra point to HL2 because of Jones.
Then you look at Ian's embarrassing pitch which didn't even hurt him in the slightest.

>>388068887
>The amount of butthurt at Zelda OoT making it into the HoG was ridiculous.
This was also because Last of Us didn't get in. Made it extra painful for some of those kids.
>>
>>388069032
>>388068887
Damiani can get autistic about nintendo but he did everyone a favor by bringing OoT now, get it out of the way so we can get to the more contentious games. LttP will probably get in first try but at least we'll get Kyle trolling everyone.

I also think WoW should be in there. It wasn't the first MMO but its just contrarian to say it wasn't an incredible moment in video game history, I'm salty that it was banned for a year
>>
>>388069232
>xenoblade was slow
i do definitely get this argument, but my counterpoint here is that despite it's lengthy introduction, everything matters from a story perspective. you going and saving that little prick juju? it's important, it connects to the larger mechon threat and even has significance later on as the character grows. though it's long there really isn't much fluff. a lot of games that length will add a certain amount of padding.
>>
>>388051030

The sponsors right at the fucking beginning of the frame trap section was *SO* jarring. I usually watch them out of interest, but I just skipped that whole part of the video.
>>
>>388069431
i actually like damiani a lot, the dude is one of the most knowledgeable allies in some ways, only really rivaled by blood and sometimes kyle. in addition i feel like he really made an effort to be more enjoyable to watch as a result of constructive criticism, which i give him props for.
>>
>>388069434
And it's precisely why I thought the payoff was great. I didn't feel like it was thrown at me. It was a good culmination of all the events, from beginning to end. It all happened for a reason.
>>
>>388069563
Damiani is fine if he tones his neogaf shit down. It's getting out of control.
>>
>>388069563
Yeah I've turned around a bit on Damiani. In the last friend code episode he really seemed to be taking criticism to heart and I respect that, and it's valuable to have someone who has such an intense interest in a specific aspect of the industry vs. just a general overview.

What's his endgame?
>>
>>388069563
He's actively trying to improve the podcast, and I can't say the same for the others. Good on him, but in the end, he really needs to put out more game sleuth, and to me he'll always be the textbook definition of 'that kid.'
>>
>>388069701
>I've turned around a bit on Damiani
this describes my experience exactly, i used to not enjoy watching him but now i do like him. and yea i agree with the rest of your post too.

>>388069692
to be honest i don't notice that too much, his humor doesn't grate on me too bad (when it's not overdone) and i enjoy his interactions with kyle quite a bit.

>>388069887
i would love more game sleuth, actually had to watch some pop fiction today just to scratch that itch. to be fair though, he does seem to put a ton of work into them.
>>
>>388069732
"what's his ent gaime?" - Anon 2017
>>
>>388069678
yea, i really didn't expect such seemingly meaningless moments to have so much consequence. if only more allies had played it...

the real badguy here is blood. he played the game and STILL didn't vote for it.
>>
>>388069887
>he really needs to put out more game sleuth
As long as it isn't anything like the last one. It's probably the only time in my life where I felt insulted for having my time wasted from watching something I didn't pay for first.
>>
>>388070008
>to be honest i don't notice that too much
He parrots them way too much (like with the Andromeda "harassment") and keeps bringing up how he "saw some GAF thread". Recent frametrap once again while talking about Sonic Mania.

Apart from that he's fine. He might even go a bit too far sometimes in not seeming like a Nintendo fanboy, being by far the most critical of modern Nintendo to the point of ridiculousness sometimes.
>>
>>388070373
what did you not like about it?
>>
>>388070506
Is that a serious question?

Most of it was spend on gamefaqs and the resolution was the most dumb shit ever. The whole premise and question was as well.
>>
>>388070648
oh yea i remember now it was that dragon shit right? yea that was pretty weak honestly. the game itself seemed like one of those bad-weebbait games that only works on the whole dub-only audience.

>Amount of Sleuthing required is on first page of a google search and the unreleased codes don't do all that different from the others, which is the bog standard stuff found on any other kids racing game.

Fiasco is probably the best thing EZA does, when Ian isn't using his character in a scene. (He can do just fine as random filler characters like the exec from the zoo or that barbarian dude in the gaiden Tabletop video)
>>
>>388071880
He's shit but there are some moments where he's actually ok
>>
>>388071880
I think he's very funny on the podcast and in fiascos. Anywhere else, even on many group streams, his focus easily wanders into why he's so disliked.
>>
>>388071880
He's not as bad as he's made out to be, but he's still pretty bad. At best he's bland.

This was my breaking point with Huber on the show.
