Does a mechanical keyboard actually help you in videogames?

No. But it feels nice to type on.

So, there's no actual good keyboard for gaming?
>>388031670
There is. It's literally any keyboard.

wow you're dumb

The only noticeable thing in keyboards gaming wise is NKRO. Some membranes have it too, though, but at the price you'd be better off with cheap mechanical.
n-key rollover is nice to have and would be an advantage in APM heavy titles
if you dont know what that is, you are likely a cretin.

For cs go cherry reds/clears, headphones with sound stage (i think i bought the audiotechnica 700x? Cant remember the model), a mouse with a good sensor, and a 144hz screen does give you an advantage.
In order of usefullnesa
Soundstage Headphones > 144hz monitor > mouse > mech keyboard.
A basic mechanical keyboard is good over cheaper keyboards because excessive actuation force (force to register a key press) would be bad for gaming.
Beyond that, if you're using enough keys at once simultaneously, n key rollover ensures that you never encounter a situation where too many button presses simultaneously means that one or several do not register.
Past a certain basic price point (as low as around $45 at certain sales) a mechanical keyboard is more about the comfort of the typist (less force=significantly less stress on the fingers over time) than it does any tangible gameplay improvement. On the other hand, cheaper keyboards don't offer the aforementioned n-key rollover, and if you're going to sit at your "battlestation" all day either playing vidya or shitposting on the internet, you might as well have a nice, functional and comfortable keyboard from which to do it.
Switches are a must. Switch color and if they're actually cherry switches is comparatively secondary.

According to the 12 year olds of neogaf, hell yeah.
Not really. Good mouse with mousepad, decent headset, high-freqency monitor more usefull than any "super keyboard".
