DaS3 was fantastic.

The combat was massively improved, weapon arts added a lot of variety to the game and made nearly every weapon interesting , actual interesting shortcuts returned, world design made a comeback (albeit not as good as DaS1), the graphics blow 2 out of the water, movement felt grounded again, etc.

>Those visceral attacks ala Bloodborne achievable on MANY enemy types and a large amount of bosses that you discover as you keep playing.
>Rolling actually making bossfights feel more like action rather than re-action or waiting for an opening.

>I didn't say "visceral combat", I said visceral attacks, which in DaS3 you can get after dealing enough damage to the right spots of larger enemies and multiple bosses. And they feel AMAZING to perform and make combat more interesting. Ex: Crystal Lizard, Giant Crabs, Deep Accursed, Stone Gargoyles, Oceiros, Vordt, Dancer, Nameless King, Prince Lorian, Demon Princes (both the two in the first part of the fight and the last true Demon Prince), Elder Ghrus, Darkeater Midir, etc. (This probably isn't even half of them, and I'm not even counting the bosses you can parry here man)

Play them in order again. Come back. I just finished doing that, 2 was an absolute slog with some fun moments. Also compared to 1 and 3 felt like I was floating around instead of actually connecting my feet to the ground. Embarassing movement feel.

Not only movement but attacking is also fucked.
Try attacking in one direction and immediately in the opposite one.
In 1 your character will flip on the spot and attack behind him.
In 2 he'll turn around, resulting in you attacking to the side first instead of the back.
It's even worse with weapons like the Black Knight Great Sword where you won't turn at all in 2.

I just played them in order last week.

SotFS > 3 > 1

Scholar was so much more open to not only different progression paths, it was the most varied in terms of how you can play the game.

It was a happy medium between the stiff robotic movement of 1's poisefest versus the rollspamfest of 3.

It had tons of variety in location and setting compared to the other games.

It had more weapons, armor and content than 1 or 3.

I just can't see how anyone can say 1 or 3 is better. 3 is better than 2 maybe, but SotFS pushes 2 well past 3.

Has it fixed how utterly awful and slippery 2 felt? If it has, sure, it's a good dark souls game. I have a feeling it hasn't, and thus, everything you listed is second to how the game feels to play (or it should be, if gameplay matters to you in videogames).

I understand what you mean. And it didn't feel slippery to me. SotFS is a massive update that fixed Graphics, FPS issues, movement deadzones and more.

It feel very smooth. Not as smooth as 3, but a big leap over 2 and 1.

Scholar has bunch of stupid shit added, like red NPC invaders everywhere. Certain areas got a lot more annoying for no reason too.

They messed with the statues too, cant remember what exactly it was but I remember being angry. I think they added bunch of those and changed the placement of the branches, so you're forced into a more linear path in Scholar as opposed to being able to basically go in 4 different directions from Majula.

They made it so you needed a branch to get to shaded woods. They added a few more here and there to shepard the player a bit, but added a bunch more branches to the game.
