Which Tropico game is the best?

Bump for actual vidya discussion.

It's tough deciding between 3 and 4. I think we can all agree that the 5th was too dumbed down.
It might be nostalgia, but I'd go for Tropico 3. The amount of freedom you had was crazy, I think you could choose between 6 different radio programs and 4+ education programs, as well as make profit from inmates.
IIRC it was also easier to create a fascist dictatorshit in T3.

4 improves a lot of features from 3
But the campaign missions are a lot easier and never on a time crunch. 3 had a lot of "do task by X date" missions where 4 said "build x and we'll give you your next task," So I would just build up my city for 15 years before doing that first step.
Radio 3 > 4
Autobuild is a godsend though, because construction workers are the laziest shits on earth

4 with Modern Times is great. I enjoy 5 a lot, but it has too few options. I hope they return to form with 6.

Very pleb game. Also the power generation is fucked up (exporting your main fuel source => having to create a separate road system) and isn't fixed without mods.
Everything that made the island yours in the other games, all the small decisions that you had to make in every single building, are reduced to binary choices.

Aka Tropico 3++. Fixes all the issues 3 had, at a small price of having worse campaign.

Generally, straight from the box, it's either 3 or 4. With a bit of dedication, any of the four will do. Pirate has serious gameplay issues with housing, but other than that it's that quirky weird cousin that is slightly retarded, but everyone still loves him.

5 doesn't fucking exist. It's a disgrace to otherwise great franchise.

5 is my personal favorite because i got 4 for the 360 and the saves kept crashing and getting corrupted which aggravated me to no end and it pissed me off even more when the devs did not bother fixing the saves getting corrupted big problem meanwhile on 5 with xbox one my saves never got corrupted and my game didn't bugged out on me.

Sandbox IS easy. It's not hard at all to build a flourishing, stable island under sandbox conditions. The challenge comes from the campaign missions that slowly ramp up the pressure until you're forced to do drastic totalitarian shit to stay afloat. Then you have to figure out how to manage the consequences of doing drastic shit.

Did anyone enjoy the Tropico 5 campaign? I slogged through the first one, and I honestly enjoyed the crazy bullshit Penultimo managed to do. The missions themselves were meh (though the tourism one was fun).

Aoe 3 was actually in a good state during the Warchiefs expac, if you ignore the added civs. When it came out it was an unbalanced mess, and I have a hard time believing how bad it was considering they still had the aoe2 era superstars on the team.

Haemont was a shit developer as well, their only succesful game was tropico 3-5, and tropico 3 is basically tropico 1 in 3d, and the series got worse the more they put their own flair on it.
