Both are fine in their own right. Its when we get this shitty compromise is when it gets bad because you get the worst of both worlds where you are still forced to take hits due to it being turn based but you cant stop and think due to having enemies turns be taken regardless of your own input. That being said Chrono Trigger is still one of the greatest JRPGs of all time
