Every Xenosaga was good, even 2. The reason people hated 2 was because the battle system was too hard for them.

Notice that 3 had the simplest battle system of all the games. They dumbed it down for you fools.

I could never get into the series. I played Xenogears up until halfway through disc 2 before stopping because I was so bored with it. When I heard from other people that disc 2 is much worse I never even bothered to retry the game.

I only got like 6 hours into Xenosaga 1 before quitting that too, but that was because it didn't hook me by then and I had a lot of other shit going on. I always felt like retrying it again. Then I heard that it was originally going to be a 6 part series and it cut short into a trilogy and thought fuck that noise.

Yeah you kinda have to be into the story to play these games. I remember back when they came out most of /v/ were memeing that the game had half hour long cutscenes. I think some of them are actually close to that long though so yeah its a very story heavy game. I kind of like the way they did the sci-fi RPG though when 99% of rpgs are fantasy.

Also I could never get into xenogears either. Everyone pretty much says how its this amazing classic but it must be nostalgia glasses. Everytime I try it I end up dropping it before hour 5 or so it bores the hell out of me.
