Tell me a one good reason why you aren't pirating games
>>
I have a job

Same.

>>387986137
I'm not a leech.

I want to support the developers

I'm too paranoid I will get a virus and I don't like torrents.

Rather pay the $5 during steam sales.
>>
>>387986137
I want to pay people that made stuff for my entertainment so they will consider making more stuff in the future.
>>
>>387986137
Because my backlog is too big and I can't handle more
>>
>>387986218
>>387986263
Not a good reason. Do you give your money to everyone you see because you are not poor?

>Do you give your money to everyone you see because you are not poor?
If they give me game I want to play in return, sure.
>>
>>387986375
Are they providing me with a good or service? Because if they are providing me with either, then yes, I give them money because I'm not poor or underage.
>>
>>387986375
No, only for the things I want

I'm not playing them anyway
>>
>>387986375
that might completely fucking blow your mind but if you glance at the world outside your mom's basement you'll see that there's a shitload of people that actually do this
unironically
>>
I only pirate games that are 10 years or older. The developers won't make money on games that old.
>>
I can buy shit
also because the already flimsy trust I had in torrent sites has been smashed since TPB and Kickass went down and "came back"
>>
>>387986137
I once pirated Sid Meyers Pirates

It just felt right
>>
I don't have a job or money so I pirate
I don't have time to get a job because I have so many games to play
Life is pretty good
>>
>>387986137

Because the thrill is gone.

Also, digital delivery services saving me the trouble of patch hunting is worth the price of admission.

achievements.

And you'll be sorry someday
>>
>>387986641
I still pirate all the new games from tbp
Basically just use torrents from uploaders with skulls and you'll be fine
>>
>>387986137
Where can I pirate games?
>>
>>387986137
Because there is nothing worth of pirating.

People now just pirate other mediums.
>>
Termites ate me wooden fingers matey
>>
>>387986137
Because right now I have a bunch of films at the front of my download queue.
>>
But i pirate it?
I am not stupid to pay anything that isnt food, drink, rent
>>
I stopped pirating for a few reasons, the biggest reason is that it's safe to assume that ALL pirated games have rootkits and bitcoin miners embedded into them nowadays and I'm too lazy to setup a separate installation of Windows that is completely isolated as to not infect my main SSD which has work files, files that I absolutely can't risk losing. It isn't worth it.
>>
>old game that was only available via disk
>download it from some website because people mark up the price
>play game and have fun
gonna download the punisher. are there any other PS2 games with PC ports?

There are no games even worth pirating.

I do though.
If it was fun and I spent a lot of time playing it, I buy it.
But not if its still has denuvo on the retail version.
>>
>>387990878

Because you don't give a shit about other people and their jobs. You are basically saying "why won't I steal if I can and get away with it?"

I know the whole stealing thing is kind of a meme debate by now, but there's no question when you use that kinda logic. You have the money but you get the services for free because you "can". Things take time and human effort to make, by not compensating them for it, you are stealing.

Now, I don't know what kinda well paying job you have, but just imagine someone used whatever service you provided and you never got paid for it, because well, why wouldn't they do it and save a few hundred bucks every year too?
>>
>>387992534
It's as true as "most download links out there in the internet have viruses on them". If you know what you are doing you aren't gonna get a virus your whole life. But if you just go clicking and downloading anything that looks nice you won't go too long before getting your computer fucked.

Same for torrents, gotta know where to download, who to trust.
>>
>>387986137
Too paranoid the Feds are gunna break my door down because I downloaded a mediocre game and some songs.

pirating games takes time, anyone recomend any good games?

I suck dick like a girl
>>
>>387986137
Haven1t seen any games I'd want to pirate.
>>
>>387986137
It's degenerate scum like you that are causing the industry to become shit. People like you pirate the game, but can't pirate cash shops so they push this crap and we all suffer because of it
>>
I only pirate games pre-2010 or those that aren't tied to a DDP.
>>
Nothing worth the time spent downloading at the moment.
>>
>>387995781
This entire industry would be episodic dlc's with cash shops anyway in a world without pirating.
Video games have always been a garbage medium anon, capitalism is just exploring what it can get away with on its own. Pirates didn't change that except become a convenient boogey to scare investors with loose cash into hiring a DRM service. If anything piracy created an industry and thus workers.
It's good for the economy.
>>
>>387986137

>>
>>387986283
Developers get paid during development. Publishers make money when it's released.
Yeah, developers probably get some sort of bonus if their game did well on the market, but with the current opacity of the industry, and the horror stories of working as a developer, I'm not so sure that it's anything fair.
>>
>>387996612
Because I do not buy bad games nor should anyone, but dumbasses do regardless.
>>
>>387986218
This.

No reason to pirate anything after you get a job. It's way too much hassle pirating, scanning for viruses, installing, having to use keygens and cracks. God forbid the game has patches and you have to manually pirate those as well.

Getting into good private trackers to not have to worry about shitty malware is another huge hassle.

Steam is convenient, click once and relax. 99% of non-steam games are the same.
>>
>>387986137
I will give good devs money for their products when I can, when I can't Steam sales are common enough so they get something in the end.
>>

I pirate everything except multiplayer games. Last game I bought was Rising Storm 2. Why pay money for fucking videogames when you can get them for free? I don't care about supporting the developers either. I couldn't care less if videogames stopped being made because everyone pirated them. Actually I think the world would be better off if videogames stopped being made.

>>387986283
Unless it's a self-publish or an indie studio, they were already paid before the game release. The times when dev companies were living off revenue ended by mid 00s
>>
I don't mind paying for things I intend to use
>>
>>387986398
You are not lazy - you are just stupid
>>
>>387995781

Flawless logic, anon
>>
>>387986137
People need to buy games for you to pirate you fucking underage
>>

>>

I have to juggle with TOR to bypass firewall DNS block on every torrent tracker my ISP has, then wait for it to download with the speed of crippled turtle, then pray for downloaded repack to actually work and not have built-in miner (another shit that's really inconsistent, that I had to actively check, and do all that shit all over again if it's not working). Also I have to seed some traffic so I won't get banned from tracker for leeching.

My alternative is open steam icon, click purchase, click next 2 times, wait for it to download while i make some coffee and click play.

Now, I'm a working man and arrive home around 6 or 7 pm depending on traffic and I'm fucking tired. What would I chose? The answer is crystal clear to me.
