Alright

It's set in a realm in hell and everyone is demons except for some lost souls which you can eat or help get to safety for a power up
very sleazy 19th century theme, lust, greed, fat sloth demons etc everywhere
Low tier boss demons scheming to overcome their rivals which the player's character gets involved in

What about one set on board the first FTL ship the encountered hostile alien life that takes over the minds of the crew and infests and transforms them into a collective flesh monstrocity.

You play as a member of the military escort ship who wakes from cryosleep and is guided by one of the survivors but is secretly the advanced megalomaniac insane AI responsible for creating the aliens
>>
its bioshock, only its in space. Only there's an actual inventory, the game doesnt shove cutscenes down your throat, and you can actually explore the ship instead of being filtered down a corridor by rubble

I mean, realistically there are only two options for a brand new bioshock game to concievably go and that's underground (kinda boring unless there's some gimmick to it) or mutha-fucking SPACE!
>>
>>387980676
>bioshock...but it's underground

this has some potential. Maybe you're descending into some kind of...Underworld?
>>
>>387980670
So Prey?
>>
A secret society in a jungle, built by tree hungers and environmentalists. They're communists

A Bioshock fantasy game set in a Hyper-Nippon similar to Tenra Bansho Zero, and for the game's entire thematic focus being on the upwards climb to greater powers and a citywide analogy on the dangers of attempting to grow beyond your means without understanding the grand weight of this growth. Characters would augment themselves with cybernetics, shinto/buddhist inspired magic, use things like parasites or other horrific internal mutations and access to one of a number of control centers that will upgrade different facilities in different districts of this super-castle, which will make all of the potential resources you find in them superior, but enemies found in the district will also be using these superior resources as time passes.

>The Shogun and multiple other Daimyo are all failed attempts at deification who are revered by the masses as if they had actually ascended, because they know no better
>The wildly increasing technology is a result of the natural bleed of magical/blessed auras from these specific Shogun/Daimyo, who are used more as power generators than monarchs/politicians, with the faithful and the triumphant in their name being granted a greater degree of the energy than those who are skeptical/uncaring
>Your entire plot guides you to understanding why every other Daimyo has failed in their pursuit of Divinity, and later gives you a Ken Levine(c) Choice (tm) between
>-"Ascension" (Ends with you warping into a similar battery-esque mess [The result of one who attempted godhood but failed to understand it])
>-"Transcendence" (Ends with you being sucked into an internet-like network of souls for you to observe and understand every human alive, but your existence is erased from reality beyond your ability to push and pull certain individuals every now and again, being a faux-Godhood)
>-"Rebirth" (Commit Sudoku to be born again [Upon sacrificing your flesh, you become an actual deity and subsequently destroy the Supercastle])

BLAMEshock. as the game progresses, parts of it take place in the Netsphere

Seismic Shock.
The city is built entirely suspended from the ceiling of a truly gigantic cavern deep beneath the earth, surrounded by nothing but absolute darkness, so far up you can't even see the floor. I think it'd make for a really cool feeling of isolation and a very otherworldly setting.

Does anyone else remember the super early images of Bioshock? It was a completely different game. You had these bug-hybrid-experiment-mutants with MP40's chasing you and it was meant to be more of a horror game with really grotesque, vile shit. You know, like an actual System Shock successor.

Bioshock doesn't even deserve its name, what the fuck. It's nothing like System Shock whatsoever.

I read a book like this but it was grim dark medieval setting.

It's a video game sequel of Aguirre: The Wrath of God, where another group of adventurers find El Dorado and create a Catholic Utopia in the Amazon, only it goes terribly wrong and goes full Cannibal Holocaust and you play as a Jesuit who has is trying to escape a golden city full of angry cannibal natives and deranged conquistadors.

>tfw I was earnestly hoping against hope that Infinite would pull a shocking swerve by the end of the story, reveal SHODAN to have been behind everything, and make the last few levels a mindfuck of time-breaking cyberscape and corrupted religious imagery rather than the limp-wristed conclusion the game actually had

>city/game
IIRC, someone adapted the Fallout Tabletop game system for use in a Rapture setting. I just use that.
