There are some puzzles but they're not too complicated and pretty laid out. They use a lot of different control types and make sense in the situation though, so it's doesn't feel gimmicky.

The zero-g is the main challenge and it's pretty good for it. You have to get to some areas fast or dodge dangers that will insta-kill you, using you hands on safe surfaces to propel you and jets to make corrections.

After a cursory check of the Steam store, the Vive has almost twice as many supported titles as the Rift. Granted, there's probably workarounds to make Vive titles work on Rift, but native support is usually best.

No, there isn't. Aside from some curious R&D, what IS in dev on the Vive side of things is new controllers, methods to render physical objects into your VR space, wireless connectivity so no more wire tether. There isn't even any word of a second gen of Vive or Oculus yet.

>A lot of the good Rift titles are exclusive to their store
Except that was already cracked. You can play any game on the rift store with a vive. You have been able to since pretty much a couple weeks after they started that nonsense.

>>387960067
>Granted, there's probably workarounds to make Vive titles work on Rift

It involves buying 2-3 additional sensor cameras for your rift and a lot of third party patching at the moment unfortunately, Vive on the other hand requires 1 download to play any Rift game.

>>387953424
>not enough games
>bought rift instead of vive
I dunno senpai, I have like 30 games and so far only like 2 I don't feel I'll really play much. But I also don't play any seated VR games either, which may be why you're having a very different experience.

Well okay, I lied a little. I definitely am seated or laying down when playing waifu fugging games in VR.

>Except that was already cracked. You can play any game on the rift store with a vive. You have been able to since pretty much a couple weeks after they started that nonsense.
I know about Revive. I only mentioned the exclusives because the other anon was only counting Rift titles on Steam.
>>
>>387960067
All vive games work with rift
In games that explicitly expect vive hardware SteamVR translates the controls to make it work.
>>
Rift is $200 cheaper and the Rift Touch controllers are 200x better than the shitty vive wands.

>>
>>387960547
>There's word that both Vive and Oculus are working on wireless 'stand-alone' headsets that won't need an expensive computer or cables.
The stand alone Vive is confirmed to be a google daydream headset, as in it runs android and can't play PC games.
The Oculus will likely just be a GearVR with a phone built in, too
>>
>>387964331
I need to mess with that. There are a few games that are really funky with Touch, like that WH:Vermintide title that has hands the wrong way around.
>>
>>387963797
What are you on about?
>>
>>387964036

Using "VR Only" and "HTC Vive" tags, I've found the following Vive exclusives:

-Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades
-Vanishing Realms
-Zomday
-Dota2
-Accounting
-Pavlov VR
-FORM
-Zombie Training Simulator
-Elven Assassin
-Project LUX
-Catlateral Damage
-Lethal VR
-VR: Vacate the Room
-Fast Action Hero
-HordeZ
-Paddle Up
-Cyberpong
-BLARP!
-Directionless
-Irrational Exuberance: Prologue
-The Rose and I
-Water Bears VR
-Unseen Diplomacy
-Abbot's Book Demo
-The Cubicle

There's arguably more, but I'm not gonna bother wading through to find more. Most stuff is Vive and OR compatible, but the stuff I listed is not OR compatible.

>>387945520
Even if you hate VR games like Resident Evil 7 you can go play modded games like Jedi Knight 2 and enjoy the perfect SW VR experience.
>>
>>387965273

The point is more that such things exist, not that they're any good. Pretty much every relevant VR title with or title with VR support can use OR or Vive, but there are still some indie holdouts from when OR was still just a Facebook headset and they figured they'd "rebel" by being Vive exclusive.

Motion sickness is a meme that no gaymer experiences. We've had dozens of people try out the Vive during holiday parties, the ONLY people who have had any kind of motion sickness were my sisters friends who do not vidya at all, ever. Everyone else? Even the casual console kids didn't seem bothered by it.

Not wearing your glasses like a tard, may give you a headache but there is no reason to NOT wear them, not sure where this meme came from, it's perfectly fine to keep them on with the headset on, it's more than roomy enough for most frames.

As for games... I have more Vive games I play than Ps4 ones. Hell, the only PS4 game I've seen with any replay value that isn't a multi-plat is future tone.

Yes. I do prefer glorious 4k resolution instead of the shitty thing you call "VR". I also enjoy not getting nauseous from my entertainment devices. Sorry you're poorfags who had to suffice for VR.

$600 is still a lot of money for me since I'm a poorfag. I don't think VR is a meme though, I'll get into it eventually.

I'm not joking.
This is with the price cut.

7490kr (7500~ is $928)

It was 9490kr before the price cut, which is $1174,49

Because we yuropoors dont have the fancy prices merricans most of the times have, companies laugh at us... becuase we are yuropoors...

waifurs can be /v/ or /co/ related too
(also fembots are fine too)

Only reason I haven't jumped on it is that Vive is not compatible with the upcoming SteamVR Tracking 2.0. The Knuckles controllers Valve is making will also probably be another $100-200 upgrade and the current wand controllers suck.

The better headstrap is also a $100 upgrade and I don't even kneed the headphones on them. I just want the sturdier frame.

This is fundamentally impossible.

Wireless maybe, but standalone is completely impossible without extreme future technology.

You cannot get good battery life, controlled thermals, and more than the power of a 1080 Ti SLI rig (you need 120+FPS and dual viewport rendering at 4K per eye for next-gen VR, remember)
>>
>>387971183
What will probably happen is HTC building a "mobile phone on your face" spinoff device that runs indie games. But AAA-graphics games like EVE Valkyrie are at least a decade away from that form factor.

It's still way too fucking expensive in Australia
>>
>>387964934
I own quite a few of those, and they all work on my Oculus. I play HotDogs Horshoes and HandGrenades all the time, i fucking love it.

Right now, I'd definitely say the Oculus is the better deal. I haven't played a single VR game that states it's for the Vive that hasn't worked natively on the Oculus as well. Even mods like the Doom 3 VR mod work fine with it with some simple rebinding.

No thanks
>>
>>387964934
almost all these games work on the rift now and with both unity and unreal (i think) having proper support for both headsets there is hardly any reason for any dev to go exclusive to one headset since the only difference from an integration aspect is the controllers

I had the DK2 for quite a while and only recently got the CV1. I was seriously impressed with how much the system improved over the DK2
>>

Okay. Games that are literally demos, games that will get boring after 1 hour, games that have no replayability and games that don't interest me. The 10% of VR games that is interesting enough is literally a handful and not worth it if you need to spend $600 for an accessory.

Happy?

>>387973747
Still wrong.

I know my jap/chink. They are coming. Just one example: Acer vr. Cheaper coming late this year.

Why does Australia always get these fucked up prices for everything? It's like the Switch being an extra $70USD more expensive to buy in Australia, or AAA titles on the Steam store charging more when sold in Australia despite the Australian Steam store also using USD.

Hahaha no. Not until drops to around $150.

>>
>>387975363
There was a working proof of concept in 2015, and a separate company implemented it in an AR concept device that'll probably be out next year.
Guaranteed this will be a key feature for VR 2.0 devices.
>>
>>387975917
I can't wait for Quil to get that animation feature. Dear Angela was a pretty weird show.

I just wished Medium could do the same 'infinite canvas' thing. I'm better at sculpting than painting.

Id only ever buy vr for the porn. And plenty of stores sell their own vr headsets for movies and shit now. Still havent bought one. My dick clearly doesnt care enough.
