I would say so, last recode is coming with a primer disk about .hack//IMOQ so back story is included.
I would like HD versions of the older games but i can see how people today would be put off by the menu combat. It was good at it's time but tastes have changed.

Last .hack I played was a fucking decade ago, but I feel compelled.

The only good additions mechanically so far seem to be the increased exp/movement speed. Since grinding in .Hack if you even had to was annoying especially at higher levels.

Still fucking sad that IMOQ isn't part of this and is most likely never gonna get a HD rerelease and i can only dream of a overhauled gameplay wise collection someday.

Both of those are like a difficulty setting. It's not like the game was hard anyway. About the only time you could possibly be underleveled assuming you regularly did not do the side quests was the final boss but even then that was still highly winnable.

Retry is fine if it can be turned off it hurts no one and even if it cannot the games like you said aren't hard dying required massive slip ups and you still had to lose a whole party.

Cheat mode again is separate and doesn't matter but even if you've beaten the games i cannot see how its fun or necessary. You could achieve the same exact thing but just linking someone a movie of the games cutscenes since there is no satisfaction from doing 9999 with weightless slashes.

Amazon has the limited edition for this game up, but for some reason the only way to access it is to google "Amazon .hack/G.U last recode limited edition"

It's generally recommended to start with the original quadrilogy before playing G.U. It's a bit harder to get into them if you've played G.U. first.

Imo yes. The original four are pretty dated, made early in the ps2's life cycle. The g.u. trilogy (this bundle) is a major improvement, although completely different. It felt like they mastered developing for the ps2 in this trilogy. Plus, this remaster comes with a short movie to recap the first four games.

Overall these games are fantastic a-rpgs. Some of the most immersive games I've ever played. You will legit be convinced you're playing in some kind of real MMO.

Let's be honest; IMOQ is ancient, by graphical and gameplay standards. If Last Recode does well, maybe they'd go into a full on remake of the original quadrilogy, because just merely a remaster for that series wouldn't be able to fix all of its problems despite the excellent story.
