Edgy flash animations turned into "lolsofunny" video game parody shit, Newgrounds attempted to appeal to a wider audience by imposing stricter censorship on the site and old creators already left the site.

Its like Inflames or a similar metal band which starts promising and has great songs, but then it starts catering towards preteens and mainstream and immediatly goes to shit. After that mainstream moves on and the actual fans have already left in disgust, the band -or in this case the site- fails.

Youtube came along and offered animators way more money than they would ever get uploading their content to Newgrounds. Then Youtube changed algorithms to cater to lets plays. Then they changed again so now people are focusing on streaming. Unless you're putting your music video up or you're already a well-established creator Youtube is a wasteland

Deviantart hasn't been doing its best either, overall it seems teenagers of today don't care about creating anything else than drama on Twitter.
