I'm honestly kind of stunned by how badly this game is doing on PC, even considering that it's a bad port of a new IP. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has sold six times as many copies and that's barely a game.

in 3 they killed him off at the beginning in a retarded and unbelievable way and people who liked the character were really upset about it so after that they started pushing him really hard as if to say "hey guys remember how much you liked gat? he's back! isn't that awesome? buy our game!"

2 => 4 > 3

2 edges out 4 just slightly because while the actual mechanics in 4 are the most fun in the series, 2 has a more consistent atmosphere, is far better written, the plot progresses in a very satisfying way, and it has a better radio selection. 3 is just a bit bland.

I'm not really feeling AoM from what I've seen of it - the whole thing just comes off as confusing. It's a Saints row game but not really? There's a fuckton of characters yet there is no Co-op? The gameplay itself looks like a step back from the powers in SR4 and more like a mashup of SR3 gunplay with more of a focus on skill trees and upgrades - Literally who is this for? I like Volition and it makes me sad that AoM seems so phoned in and bland.

The game is all right. I wouldn't call it bad, but it isn't anywhere near on the level of Saints Row 3 or 4. So far even Gat out of Hell is a better game.

It uses the Saints Row visuals and references to prop up an entirely different game in an entirely different genre. It's attempts at humor fail to follow up the SR series, even as the SR series' worst, indeed, the humor and overall writing in Agents of Mayhem is aggressively dull. The character switching mechanic is mind boggling, they have all these characters they want you to like and that they try to make interact, but instead of interacting you're controlling one and switching between them with a teleport mechanic meaning they're rarely in the same space, so even the characters that might be interesting never get to interact or show it outside of a few cutscenes.

The game would have been infinitely better if it were squad based, with your own custom character able to level up down trees of the various classes available in the game now. Other issues are its arcadey nature. Arcadey games are fine, they're great, but Agents wants to dip its toes in the pool instead of going full in, this applies to nearly every aspect of Mayhem. Each aspect is, "maybe a little" and never all the way in, the open world, the population of the city, missions, side content everything here seems terribly limited like you're playing half of the content at any given time waiting for the rest to appear but it never does. The better game never manifests.
