Bastion had gameplay. Transistor has a better story but shit gameplay and the story was a pain in the ass to piece together.

Narrator was also kino for Bastion. I like them both but I don't play games for purely story.

And this version of it was boring as fuck. You can't really fight in real time because everything is designed to fuck you if you try. If you use your ability, you blow your load in 2 sec and wait 5 to be able to do anything again.

The entire combat is just you blowing your load as much as possible and then waiting to do it again. Literally no skill required whatsoever.

I'm sorry you didn't find a fun moveset, but you didn't experiment enough and that's really what it comes down to.

Every Supergiant Game has the flaw of an abusable aspect of the combat system.
For Transistor it's a highly specific combo of moves that is just stupidly good
For Pyre it's one class can cheese the AI pretty badly
But for Bastion? It's literally the block and dodge. Dodge is just a massive get out of jail free card of invincibility and the guard can just be held down, OR used precisely for a deflect, you have WAYYYY to many defensive options. On top of that the weapon combinations are cool for switching up for playstyle but each individual playstyle is really basic. Bastion has easily the worst gameplay of the 3.

Ending and narrator are the only things Bastion had over Transistor. And Pyre has the better narrator now.

All turn based all the time. Even shit like Neverwinter Nights has faux turn based combat, that is, actual turn based combat where turns are done in time short invisible time limits. While you are right that you're a gimp in real time, you can still kill enemies that are not grouped up.
